"New Year's Eve Performance"

"She seems prolific for a 21-year-old, and her writing has depth and originality... MaryLeigh made me pay attention, like a wizened old soul with an innocent-looking young female's voice." - Saratoga.com

"Concert Review"

"I'm still in awe of last night's Exit Dome concert at WEXT. Seeing and hearing MaryLeigh made me gasp. (I spent all day listening to the album over and over again.) The way she sings and how she sings it and the way her band plays... it was like seeing superstars in a shiny New York City venue. Can't wait to see them again." - Laura Glazer - 97.7 WEXT

"Best Female Singer-Songwriter 2012"

"With all-female supergroup Babe City (MaryLeigh Roohan, Olivia Quillio, Caroline Corrigan, Meagan Duffy) on the scene these days - in one band, no less - it's delightfully hard to parse who's the finest pen in the land. The award this year goes to Roohan, though, who has three acts with which to ply her trade including Best New Band contender MaryLeigh & the Fauves and surf poppers Party Boat." - Metroland

Bio

This kid's got heart. Though she’s only twenty-two, the experience MaryLeigh Roohan gained since she began performing four years ago explains why she’s likened to “a wizened old soul.” Her yearlong, weekly residency at a pub in St Andrews, Scotland honed her guitar and vocal skills, and helped build her confidence in exploring other musical ventures. Since graduating from her Scottish residency and moving back to the states, MaryLeigh has played everywhere from intimate cafes, such as the celebrated Caffe Lena, to wild festivals, like Albany’s LarkFEST. The diverse stages she’s played match the variety of acts with whom she’s shared them. Sean Rowe, Theresa Andersson, Paranoid Social Club and Milo Greene are a few of the many.

Her songwriting has developed into something sophisticated, yet entirely accessible. Lyrically, she lays it all out on the table and her melodies carry the words to a place of unfettered emotion.
