Marysa Alfaia is an artist of Brazilian electronic Music’s new generation who combines traditional rhythms from her country with European electronic music. Marysa is already known for being in some compilations released in Europe, Canada and Brazil. She’s well known as “the samba-house’s voice” by amateur and specialized critics of this style of music.
“Na Batida da Alfaia”, her first solo album fusions maracatu, samba, bossa-nova or baiao with house music, funk and lounge, and also some of rai and a slight touch of flamenco. Produced in Rio de Janeiro by Lincoln Olivetti (who has in his CV arrangements for Gilberto Gil, Daniela Mercury, Caetano Veloso, Roberto Carlos, etc) and David Villefort (Brazilian Lounge / Sony Music-Brazil).
In Spain (Barcelona) by Paco Carro (Soultronik / House Works) and by Alain Simard (Cosmos / Eurofonic-Canada). And Co-produced by her own singer-songwriter. Distrib. DM Discmedi. This repertoire includes 13 tracks, plus 2 bonus-tracks with mixes from Dj's Paco Carro and Victor Gonzalez (“Voy a Sincopar” and “No me comas la cabeza”).
There are some unreleased and just produced tracks, like “Na Batida da Alfaia” (meaning “Alfaia´s rhythms”) a double meaning that refers to the drums that are the base for the rhythms of maracatu, which name is the same of Marisa’s surname (which somehow shows the combination of maracatu and house). It also has some tracks coming from other maxi-singles like the samba-house “Voy a Sincopar” (House Works / España), awarded for DJ-1 like the best house vinyl in 2002 and from compilations like “Deixa Rolar” (Cosmos / Eurofonic- Canada), “Transe Forró Funk” (Difference Music/ Portugal), or “Samba Soul” (Brazilian Lounge / Sony Music-Brazil).
The very own artist wrote inside the booklet: “This record is the result of a long journey, a musical path, geographic and personal. A compilation album filled with songs recorded during the period of 1996 to the date. ”Na Batida da Alfaia” is an electronic fusion with a diversity of roots of universal music (especially from my Brazil). That was born from the discovery of the fact of my surname’s resemblance with the tradition of “ Alfaia´s drums” from the North Est of Brazil. And is where, from my blood, I’m related to. And where destiny has connected me to Spain, just where the surname comes from. “ And, as a conclusion, this is an album that fusions electronic and music of roots, that is part of the new sounds of the international music.
