Bio

"M for the Mic, A for the Addict, S-H for the Stash House: You’re addicted, we'll never get evicted..."

Historically, the New Jersey hip-hop scene has quietly been a breeding ground for a seemingly endless list of class act artists, old and new. For the Garden State's own MayDay and Chris Reg - collectively known as M.A.S.H Music - consistently creating rock-solid records constructed from catchy choruses and layers of stylishly witty wordplay is only a scratch to the surface. Musically, the aim is not as simple as merely nudging the genre's bar of standard up a few notches, but instead to snatch it down completely and haul ass with the bar in tow.

This all becomes apparent when pressing play on M.A.S.H's debut (and still untitled) album, a project that has been in the works for the last two years in the midst of releasing three independent album-esque mixtapes: ‘That Jersey Tap Water’, ‘Where The F Is The Love?’, and the most recent 2010 release ‘Sign Endorse Here’ amongst a slew of other spin-off projects and features. The extensive M.A.S.H catalogue boasts collaborative efforts with growingly familiar producers XV (Warner Bros. Music Group), Skitzo (Dipset/U.N.), Ramon “REO” Owens (Atlantic Records), and many more.

The duo met back in 2002 by way of local buzz, teamed up and began crudely recording themselves on an old PC desktop microphone at Chris Reg’s home. A few short years later they were introduced to the studio environment and have been perfecting their craft ever since, fighting their way through turbulent indie label situations, federal drug and weapon charges in 2006, and a shooting that landed MayDay a bullet-wound in 2007. Fast forwarding to 2010, the two now create with RIAA gold-certified producer, engineer, and song-writer Eddie “Shyboogs” Timmons of So Amazin’ (Omarion, Bow Wow, DMX, etc.), the wizard behind the curtain of the lead M.A.S.H single “We Run This”.

With notable performances at venues like Highline Ballroom and the legendary End Of The Weak in New York City, appearances on various college and internet-based radio shows (DJ Lazy K’s Street Treats Radio, DTF Radio, Montclair State University, etc.), and personally building and maintaining the staple MASHtheMEDIA.com pulling in more than 125,000 hits monthly, M.A.S.H is certainly no stranger to being front and center. Their music has been publicly praised on the world wide web by bloggers and hip-hop sites like 2dopeboyz.com and DJBooth.net, not to mention being nominated for “Strongest Crew” at the EODub Awards in 2009.

There is no question that MayDay and Chris Reg bring a new energy to the table, capturing a certain rawness of the underground and seamlessly blending it with the commercial appeal of the mainstream. Welcome to the Mic Addict Stash House.
