Bio

Mason Douglas is looking to make his own mark in the country music industry with his music, primarily through writing and performing his own powerful, dynamic songs that go straight for the heart; music that “hits emotion and it hits it hard”. His distinctive style and dynamic live performances are continuing to turn heads and ears, leaving audiences always wanting more.

Riding the momentum of the recent release of Any Day Now from his rock-alternative band, Blue Morning (www.Blue-Morning.com), Mason Douglas can be found primarily playing throughout Nashville and its surrounding areas at venues such as the Bluebird Café, 3rd & Lindsley, and Bluesboro Rhythm and Blues. He began singing at the age of five although did not perform professionally until high school in Tucson, Arizona. He has honed his unique craft of honest songwriting by having cataloged over 170 songs (co-written and solo), influenced by a wide range of musicians such as Garth Brooks to Angie Aparo to Counting Crows. Most of Mason’s early stage experience was gained as a member of an acoustic duo, Shades Of Grey, a group that primarily showcased in Arizona throughout the mid-90’s. Shades Of Grey allowed Mason to develop his soaring vocals and tenor tone into his distinguishing style you hear and see today. One of his current projects is fronting the Nashville-based band, Blue Morning, but he finds that performing solo and acoustic often allows the intimate music to be much more raw and expressive – something he strives for in his lyrics, his melodies, and most importantly, in his energy of his live shows. Additionally, he is a member of Cory Batten’s band (If You’d Have Called Yesterday, Is The Grass Any Bluer), picking up the rhythm guitar and backing vocal duties in the group.

One of Mason’s most notable achievements to date is the success of “Meet Me At The End Of The Aisle,” a song off of his 2000 solo album, under the name Doug Hough, 1211. Originally written for his own wedding, the song was highlighted on syndicated radio throughout the Southeast. It initially caught the ear of Jack Murphy of the Greensboro, NC morning show Murphy In The Morning who spotlighted the song on a segment. After a tremendous audience response, the song was placed on rotation and gained further attention from Big D & Bubba in Baton Rouge, LA who placed the song on their syndicated morning show in 2000 and still consistently feature it. To this day, Mason steadily receives calls and emails requesting personal performances and copies of this song from the Big D & Bubba airplay alone. Also, in July of 2004, Mason was featured as a Spotlight Artist on Nashville’s Lightning 100 FM.

There is no doubt that the heart of Mason Douglas’s music lies in the energy of his live shows. However, he also understands that the beat of this heart can only be achieved through quality songs with honest, intelligent lyrics. If the “gig” is where the audience goes to be entertained, then Mason will do everything in his power to entertain by bringing a vibrant energy to the stage along with songs that you’ll want to sing along with over and over again.
