“Ya know how you show up late to big shows to skip the usually crappy local opening act? Well, I had the pleasant surprise of arriving early to the Misfits show at the Pound Friday and catching Mastema… I had heard of this band before, but wasn’t familiar with any of their music. The venue was already sold out at this point, and right from the start of their set, Mastema captured the entire audience. Unlike the usual apathy that crowds show for a local band they didn’t come to see, kids were packed up in front, banging their heads and fists to the music, and frequently erupting into mosh pits. It wasn’t until punk veterans D.I. and The Misfits took the stage later in the evening that the crowd gave the same manic response…”

From building their own guitar to building their own stage on the Vans Warped Tour (The D.I.Y. Stage - www.diystage.com), Mastema truly embodies the hard-working principles behind the “do-it-yourself” philosophy. Mastema’s music provides critical insight into the human condition through a cross-pollination of myth, philosophy, science, and politics; all the while capturing radio and fans with catchy hooks and intense live performances. The band will be following up their well-received EP with a full-length due out in the spring of 2007, supported by radio campaigns and regional and national touring.
