Norway is a beautiful country. You can travel for miles and for hours, seeing no one. Despite the cold, people are warm and welcoming. Dramatic landscapes, peace and tranquillity. Norwegian musician and producer Mathias Stubø captures all of that on his absolutely stunning self titled CD. If I say ambient and chill out vibes seep deep throughout, that gets close, but isn’t the sum of all parts by any means. His brand of electronic music is heavily inspired by seventies' jazz fusion and funk. But there are many flavours here. The whole thing has an ethereal quality to it. I really was mesmerised by the whole thing, and taken aback that the man behind it is just 20 years old, recording since he was 14. With long blonde locks and boy band features, book cover judging not recommended. I would go so far as to say the lad is way ahead of his years in talent, compared to years on the planet. He has a rare gift and skill in the studio that experienced guys treble his age would give a right or left limb to possess. The wunderkid is a drummer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and DJ. Also known as Proviant Audio. Fans include Groove Armada.This CD is split into two “sides.” Part 1: Nine cuts as “Frequency Feelings,” and another seven dubbed; “Soul Touch.” Often Scandinavian or eastern bloc electronic output sounds like it is going to be from that neck of the woods. But this does not sound geographic specific at all. It is vastly creative, balanced, builds and gets better, in fact. It throbs and pulsates with passion, drive and energy. Inspirational stuff. Dunno what the Norwegian for "great work mate" is.............

Wunderkind. Multi-talented. A miracle. Unique. Young pup.
These, and several other adjectives, were used to describe Mathias Stubø (19) from Tønsberg, Norway when he released his two first albums in 2011. Under the name of Proviant Audio he released "Real love tastes like this", and not long after followed "'1979" as Mathias Stubø.
The startling thing was that the reviews from abroad were as good, if not better, than the ones he got in his native Norway. The so-called credible niche magazines seemingly competed in throwing superlatives Mathias' way, and the collective, pan-european music press seemed happy to agree that a new star was born on the electronica sky.
Plaudits like these are few and far between, and in most cases even the most experienced artists could have lost their focus. But Mathias Stubø, an old soul in a young body, is thankfully oblivious to it all.
In his tiny studio on St. Hanshaugen in Oslo he's been working tirelessly to create and execute all the musical ideas floating around in is head. And less then a year after his two records in 2011, his sophomore and eponymous album as Mathias Stubø is already here.
