Bio
Matilda has travelled the world for some years picking up many influences along the way. Her deep powerful voice envelops, carrying you away to another place. The songs tell stories of past, present and future. “Our experiences and our environment help to shape who we are now and what we will be, but ultimately it comes from within our hearts.”
African, Rock & Blues influences establish her musical foundations. Strong inspirations range from Odetta, Nina Simone, Billy Holiday, and Bjork, to Radiohead, Joy Division and Jimmy Hendrix. “I have really eclectic tastes, it depends what mood I’m in. It could be anything from classical orchestral to a nice bit of dirty Drum & Bass or growling guitars.”
Over the years Matilda has performed in Europe and Asia to large audiences. She has provided vocals for artists both signed and unsigned. Her performance at The Royal Festival Hall in July 2011 was greatly received for The London Vintage Festival and the 1234 Festival in London, 2012 was a great success.
She is now supported by eclectic drum skills of Mike and the energetic and atmospheric bass of Conrad.
MATILDAZ are gigging extensively around London.
