Mat Levass

Born in a small town next to the St-Lawrence river, Mat Levass grew up to be the weird kid transcribing and writing music during his chemistry classes. After failing all science classes miserably and getting the best grades of the music department, something told him to leave the labs to get on stage instead. From that point, music became priority #1.

Mat moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music in September 2001. With his french background and "great" knowledge of the US culture, lets just say he had a lot of catch up to do. Despite all that, he still managed to get many prestigious awards from Berklee (Aerosmith Award 2005, winner of the Songwriting Contest 2004, honorable mention for the Songwriting Contest 2005 to name a few). He ended up the only graduate with a Dual Major in Songwriting and Music Business Management from Berklee in 2005.

Mat is now living in New York City doing many things. He is currently working on finishing up his debut album at Pulse Music (www.pulsemusicny.com) in Manhattan with respected producer and engineer Emil Karol. He also works full-time at a NYC based company called FreePlay Music (www.freeplaymusic.com) who offers free network synchronization to all BMI/ASCAP & SESAC, national network content broadcasts in exchange for music cue sheet compliance. He sometimes like to consider himself an artist, sometimes a songwriter, sometimes a producer (but most of the time a pain in the $#&!! :). In the end, people usually stick by him cause they know sooner or later he's going to make it big in this industry.
