MATRIMIA!

Curiosity, love for music, and a strong tendency to contaminations, these are the ingredients of what was formerly called “Matrimia Klezmer Band�, until the band members felt that their passion for music couldn’t be brought down to just one musical genre. A great mix of all the musical preferences, influences and experiences of these seven musicians (although one could nearly consider them to be eight, considering the important role of their own sound engineer), coming from Italy, France, the Netherlands. They happened to meet in Palermo (Sicily), which is still the home base of this group.
Whereas in the early years MatriMia! used to give existing Klezmer and Balkan tunes their own touch, giving them a for example a funk/rap feel or a very rhythmic/danceable approach, nowadays the band is concentrated on writing their own songs. In the meantime MatriMia! is playing in many festivals (sharing the stage with big names as Kocani Orkestar Boban Marcovic Roy Paci or Giovanni Sollima), in clubs, on weddings and parties, busking and touring in Italy or France… At the moment they are recording their second CD.
