"Matt Otis "Home from Home" Album Review"

Inspired by visionary leaders, authors and artists such as Gandhi, Nietzche, Orwell and others; Pennsylvania’s Matt Otis examines spiritual and philosophical themes on his CD “Home from Home.”

Strumming guitar and singing with a clear, floating voice, Otis carries out his thoughtful explorations over a broad musical terrain; backed by Jim Grassi on bass and Patrick Black on drums and percussion.

Otis’ messages run deep throughout the disc, as he encourages listeners to do some soul searching about the purpose of their own existence. The disc opener “Existence the Myth” ponders the meaning of existence itself as it evolves into a fast, driving home stretch. Otis suggests breaking down internal barriers in one’s mind and world on “Padlocked Doors,” which gradually escalates into a powerful hard-rocking crescendo. On the gentle and folksy “A Revolution of Peace,” Otis concludes that peace among mankind starts with inner peace. The exotic-toned “1984,” promotes independent thinking, while staring down the face of conformist behaviors. “Unknown Truths,” decries materialism in favor of self-realization; and free thought and self-realization set minds free on the disc-closing acoustic-geared title track “Home from Home.”

Otis’ lyrics are intelligent and thoughtful, and he drive the message home with a passionate delivery that evokes a variety of emotions. The arrangements are varied, as elements of folk, rock, and occasional international flavors give each tune it’s own distinct flavor.

Otis production is tight and clean letting the performance speak for themselves without excess gloss or clutter. A thought-provoking listen, “Home from Home,” offers both an expose of Matt Otis’ own philosophies, and a look into his diverse musical world. “Home from Home,” is now available on Itunes, Amazon, and CDbaby. - -Jim Price (The Mirror)

"Refreshingly Original Music"

Refreshingly original music that entwines unique rhythms with heartfelt and soul-filled lyrics. The Home From Home CD explores new directions while maintaining a truth and passion for the expression of love. A love of life, a love of the human race, and a love of music are magnificently captured on this recording. - Tim C. Reviews

"Modern Day Dylan and Socrates"

Matt’s acoustic work gives birth to a new feeling and sense of consciousness that is never really explored in the independent/folk scene. I do believe we are looking at a modern day combination of Bob Dylan and Socrates put together in one solid album. Quite simply buy it. It’s worth every buck. - V.G. Productions
