Matt Bailey


Matt Bailey is one of Australia's emerging talents in the contemporary scene for trumpet and collaborative chamber and compositional techniques. His strong passion for local composers, small chamber settings and solo improvisation brings his music to a whole new crowd and setting.


Matt is influenced by the sounds that surround him. A keen innovator of new music and technique, Matt aspires to engage and challenge audiences to music. An honours student of the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne Australia, his orchestral career includes working with many of the professional orchestras in Australia including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Victorian Opera and Sydney Symphony under the baton of Oleg Caetani, Richard Gill, Marcus Stenz and Thomas Woods to name a few.

In recent years Matt has developed a keen learning curve for Australian composition and performing in the chamber setting. He is currently undertaking a new contemporary ensemble in Melbourne with Jonathan Heilbron and Nat Bartch.
