Paul and Matt both attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota, but did not formally meet there. They met through a mutual college friend in Los Angeles in 2004. They talked and almost immediately realized they had similar tastes in music, and began "jamming" soon after meeting. Each one sort of filled in the musical gaps that the other was missing. Unfinished songs came out of the each other's pasts and new lyrics, tunes and songs surfaced as well. The band name "Blue Sky Divide" emerged after much debate. BSD brings a wild yet tender side to acoustic/vocal performance. The live shows are like a hybrid of Tenacious D., Stephen Lynch and Simon & Garfunkel.
