"Finish Lines"

Matt Brown is the lead singer and guitar player from the Portland, Oregon area band Ruby Hill. Finish Lines is Brown’s first solo album and it’s a great start. Great melodies are set to emotional lyrics in more of an acoustic setting than his sound with Ruby Hill. Brown is the singer/guitarist. Marc Jones provides the percussion while Jacob Battan plays bass guitar.

If you like John Mayer or Dave Matthews, you will probably enjoy Brown’s work. His vocals sound similar and the melodies are a great reminder of some of the best Mayer has played. This is all original music and it is full of sentimental lyrics and a soft rock ‘70s sounds that will take you back in time, while giving a fresh take on that softer side of rock. - Music Street Journal

"It's infectious just being around him."

Matt has been an inspiration to me personally and to many other people who are lucky to know him. His drive to be a professional musician and his passion for his art are seldom seen today. It's infectious just being around him. I have no doubt that Matt will achieve his wildest dreams when it comes to playing music and working in the music industry. - Salar Salahshoor, President, TurnClick

Bio

Matt Brown is bluesy soul but always seems to add other flavors of Funk, Folk, and Rock into the mix. Brown was exposed to all the greats growing up and it definitely comes out in his music. Some of these include: Otis Redding, The Beatles, Eda James, Bill Withers, Jimmy Hendrix, SRV, and many more. Newer influences include: Coldplay, David Grey. John Mayer, Norah Jones, Amy Whinehouse, and Dave Matthews. Brown grew up singing in secrecy and hid this passion until 19. Matt bought an acoustic guitar when he moved away for college. His addiction led him to compete in his colleges's Battle of the Bands. Brown got a band together, played the contest, and won. Brown graduated with a finance degree, but has stayed on the path of music, his true passion. He moved back to Portland, Oregon and has been building his fan base ever since.
