Bio

"As far back as I can remember, music was in my blood," says Matt Drywood. "To be able to make a record is just a dream come true!" Matt bought his first guitar by pawning the violin he received in his elementary school music class. While his parents were less than thrilled at the time, they have come to realize that this launched his songwriting career. His talents emerged almost explosively.
Always a poet, Matt’s work has been published in “Kairos”, a poetry and short-story periodical and several other magazines. He recently placed 3rd in the Cool Tunes songwriting competition in Toronto. It was a natural progression to focus his thoughts on music. Self-taught on the guitar, he wrote many songs before discovering the piano as the centerpiece of his music. He has the amazing ability to learn any instrument necessary to express his thoughts.
"I love all kinds of music," Drywood explains. "I like to focus on the different instruments, and how the songs are mixed." Innovation and creation are words that describe Matt’s writing style; his songs are characterized by an experimental instrumentation adaptation.
Influenced by artists such as Cat Stevens ,the Beatles, the Skydigger's, Matt’s lyrics are eternally poetic. They contain deep-lying spiritual messages that must be unraveled to fully understand his thoughts and feelings. This reflects his deep spiritual side and strong faith in God. The emotion he pours into each and every song is born from experience.
With his debut release, Matt Drywood is seeing the result of hard and persistent work. "I've always known that my music would make people happy, but I just wasn’t sure how to deliver it," he remarks. "It's nice that everyone in my family really understands my need to pursue music. They love it as much as I do."
Drywood has frequented the local music scene. He has been involved in various benefit concerts and folk festivals raising money for the less fortunate. He has performed with several known bands and continues to surround himself with talented artists. The motivation behind Matt Drywood’s efforts is his desire for continuous improvement.
