Bio

Born in Bergamo in 1973 Matteo Corio began his musical studies with Fabrizio Carminati and then went on to widen and model his research during the years he spent at "Gaetano Donizetti" Conservatory with Marco Giovanetti. During this period, he widened his interests to include not only the academic repertoire but also the classical and romantic repertoire that is unjustly unknown many times to the public. Aware of the importance of experiencing other musical situations, he transferred to Paris in 1997, after obtaining his Diploma at the Conservatory, to continue his studies with Emile Naoumoff and then with Bernard Job. He remained in Paris for the next four years, winning, among other things the Medaille d'or de la ville de Paris for chamber music. In 2001 he won a scholarship to Bloomington University in Indiana where he is still studying with Emile Naoumoff, attending at the same time a Master degree course in romantic culture. One of his future plans is to study for a doctorate to examine the links between music and philosophy in the romantic period.
He is also interested in contemporary music and performs at important concerts throughout the world for young composers: in 2002 he played and recorded Twin for two pianos by Justin Messina and About laughing and forgetting by John Supko.
He started his concert activities in 1991 and has played in many Italian and foreign cities including Bergamo, Milan, Sassari, Paris, Moulaine d'Ande, Lausanne and London.
In 1992 he founded together with some of his musician colleagues the association Il Suono ed il Tempo that promotes inter-disciplinary musical projects.
