"live storytelling by loose women, tragic men, heroes, faeries and other everyday people"

The second is from comedian Matteson Perry who won the Moth’s storytelling Grand Slam this month for his account of how he unhelpfully offers to “lend a hand” to his girlfriend after a condom is no longer on his person after making love (gee, wonder where it could be?) and deals with the threat of pregnancy.

The Moth is an antidote to the information age which floods our brains everyday. Email and 24-hour news cycles and the sheer volume of data that each of us processes is mind boggling if not ADD-inducing. You can slow it down if you want to. Take a break from the news feed on Facebook and the ticker at the bottom of the TV.

If you like a good story, get in touch with your inner Scheherazade and rediscover the magic. - WoolfandWilde.com/

"Tell Me A Story: The Moth"

The event is hosted regularly by funny-man and writer Matteson Perry. His energy and quick wit ensure the evening will be entertaining, but the storytellers are the reason this is a must-attend. - Girls Around Town

"Fiat Produces Performance Art, Moth Style"

The radio spots make spare mention of Fiat, but allude to the brand personality. Voiceover for the radio assets say "That's Matteson Perry [one of the storytellers] talking about the most exciting and dangerous day in his life. It's part of 'Alternate Routes,' a new storytelling experience brought to you by Fiat. Fiat believes life is best when driven."

"There is a nod and a mention of Fiat, but it's really about the content, the story," says Hurbis. "The two minutes draw you in, so you want to know about the story. We see with folks interested in Fiat and with owners that they love culture and love to discover new things." He says the company listened to some 200 performances before tapping the top ones to feature in the campaign. Matteson Perry, for example, talks about his experience running with the bulls (or away from them) in Pamplona, Spain.

"The Best Podcasts of the week"

It’s a twofer on The Moth this week, with two slight-but-funny animal tales. Both Matteson Perry’s story about running with the bulls in Spain and Jeff Simmermon’s account of his time spent dealing with Outback pests and an obnoxiously rugged boss lack the sentiment/insight/emotion of some of the best Moth stories; but they’re both funny and to-the-point, with the polished delivery expected of Moth regulars like Perry and Simmermon. - AVclub.com

Bio

With topics ranging from getting caught cheating on his girlfriend to stealing a teddy bear from his grandma, Matteson tells true comedic stories he probably shouldn’t be so willing to share publicly. His performances are part standup, part embarrassing confessional, and part improvisation, as he rarely tells a story the same way twice. He is the only Moth GrandSlam winner in both New York City and Los Angeles, and one of the hosts of LA’s weekly Moth StorySlams. He's been featured in the national CBS radio campaign “Alternate Routes” and has been heard on the podcasts The Moth, Risk!, and Story Worthy. His writing has appeared in McSweeney’s and College Humor and his screenwriting debut “Guidance” is set to film this fall. NOTE: Matteson didn’t “steal” that teddy bear, he liberated him.
