"Matt Fury Review Live in Killeen Tx."

Recently we came across this Cd, Matt Fury was playing a club in Killeen Texas
Matt's guitar Tech. needed some strings and asked if we could locate him a set.It was 9:00p.m. and in Killeen there are no places open at that time.Fortunately we know several local Guitarist, and in no time had him hooked up,Anyway Matt thanked us with this RIPPING tidbit entitled "The God Project" It's fucking great to know that not all Texas bands cater to the trends, and other boring musical generes. The God Project has the marked influences of Pantera,Testament,Yngwie Malmsteen, and even sepultura and other Heavier Bands. The Instrumental track "Short Term memory Loss" lays out the basic format of Matt Fury's style and showcases the amazing feet and style of Jeff lassiter on Drums,It's heavy,Well composed
and easy to mosh to.The second track "Come The Apocalypse" is an all out stage diving, headbanging, get up and kill groove, that will un-doubtebly be a crowd favorite at the shows. Matt wrote these songs as a companion to a story he had written many years back. Overall Matt Fury and Band are a tight ass unit to see,if you have a chance to witness there assault on the mind and sense do so,and prepare to be blown away. - Metal Matters Magazine

"Matt Fury"

Guitarist extraordinaire Matt Fury recalled his biggest night at the Back Room was 12 years ago when he opened for Pantera at the Back Room with a sold-out show on the opening night of their "Far Beyon Driven Tour".This honor came shortly after Matt Fury played with "Exodus" there as well.On July 29th 2006 the final day of the Back Room legacy, the first possible reunion of the original "Matt Fury" Crew that played the Back Room 17 years ago will be together on stage. The full story Pantera and Fury can be found on Matt Fury's website(www.mattfury1.com) in the Biography of "Fury".

The Back Room was my backyard.

For metal heads, it was the place to play and hang out. After 33 years, the club pans one last mega salute to rock 'n' roll

On Saturday July 29 2006, the staff, many others and I will cash in our clout and cling to the memories as the live-music side of the Back Room hosts its last metal show after a 33-year marathon. Sure, the place had questionable bathrooms and a cursed black pole at dead-center stage, but the Back Room also brought the glitz of the national spotlight to hard-rocking hometown heroes Dangerous Toys, Junkyard and Pariah. Other marquee mainstays included Matt Fury, Blind Date, the Jolly Garogers, Riddlin' Kids and a list so long it begs forgiveness for all the names left off.

VINNIE PAUL, PANTERA
"The Back Room was one of the coolest venues Pantera ever played. It just had a great vibe and sound. It's sentimental to me because I remember we did three warm-up shows for the 'Far Beyond Driven' tour, and they were not announced until the day of the show. One of them was at the Back Room and it was packed, hot, sweaty and intense. It was a great way to get warmed up for such a big tour. I have seen many of my favorite bands there and will really miss the Back Room when I'm in Austin."

MATT FURY, FURY
"We opened for Pantera the first night of their 'Far Beyond Driven' tour on the very day their album came out at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. It was the biggest crowd ever packed in the club. The line for that show went from the front doors all the way around the corner down to Club Kaos. During my set, the crowd kicked in the side doors next to the bar and rushed the stage,Great memories,my home for 17 years."

Side Note:
History should also record that the last real music ever played live at THE BACKROOM in Austin Texas was Power-trio Matt Fury and FURY on Saturday July 29th 2006, in an extreme-metal set (Matt Fury/Guitar, Jeff lassiter/Drums). FURY opened at THE BACKROOM for PANTERA on the first 3 nights of the "Far Beyond Driven" tour in 1994."Matt Fury"was the last Guitarist to walk off the legendary Backroom stage. - By David Glessner

"Texas Shredder Matt Fury"

I used some of his words to describe Matt's music in my review because I believed the things said were important and it was what you would want anyone to read that had never heard of him.
