Matt Gawlik

You can take the boy out of Texas but you can't take the Texas out of the boy. Truer words were never spoken of singer/songwriter Matt Gawlik. In 1984 at the age of 10 Matt got his first guitar and has not looked back since. Matt grew up listening to Charlie Daniels, Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash, and the rest of the outlaw country brigade. At the same time, Matt was digging the sounds of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix and all kinds of rock music to boot. You will hear elements of all of those amazing musical icons in Matts music today.

Over the last 20 years Matt has played in rock, metal, oldies and country bands. At one point Matt played in 80lb Fist, a thrash metal band, while playing lead guitar with Walt Hudson and the Spare Tires. This eclectic mix made him learn many styles of music which incorporate to form Matt's sound. In the last five years Matt has found his true voice in a mix of Texas Country, southern rock and blues.

While Matt loves ripping it up on the guitar, his songwriting is equally impressive. Matt's songs range from whiskey soaked meanderings through the backroads of Texas to personal trips through his memories. Matt weaves stories that can make you laugh, cry, think, or just tap your feet and sing along. Often, if you look a little deeper into the words you will find something to take with you.

This depth of thought and breadth of musical talent comes together in an artist that has been entertaining and, more importantly befriending folks around the country. You'll mainly find Matt playing with the Front Porch Kings in and around the Carolinas, in north Georgia, where his boots are currently resting, and in the San Antonio area when he's making a pilgrimmage back to the home-land.
