Biography

March 2009:

Formed in Southern California in late 2009 folk-rock, americana trio Matt Grundy & Hovering Halo's are set to release their newest offering 'Little Victories' this spring.

Having been an integral part of Donovan Frankenreiter’s band for the past ten years Little Victories marks the second offering from Matt Grundy following on from his first release Fabric & Fog. Recorded in 2008, Fabric & Fog showcased Matt’s songwriting prowess and brought him to center stage. The album was picked up instantly on Surfrock International in Japan (home to Bedouin Soundclash, Mishka, Timmy Curran, Ash Grunwald) and in addition to a series of opening slots for Donavon as part of his Pacific Rim tour, Matt embarked on solo performances in and around California. A chance call upon local musicians and friends Sean Macauly on percussion and Blake White on double bass to step in for a one time gig led to a wowed audience and the birth of Hovering Halo's.

The production of Little Victories and the forming of the Halo’s brings a fuller folk-rock/Americana sound to Matt’s soulful, bluesy singer-songwriter sensibilities enhancing his story-telling ten fold whilst keeping the intensity found with one man and his guitar.

Collectively the group cite influences across the board finding common ground with their love of artists such as Wilco, Tom Waits and Chris Whitely and having already shared stages with fellow storytellers such as The White Buffalo, Matt Grundy and Hovering Halo’s are ready to get out in front of audiences all over the country.
