Bio

At first people didnt believe... Originally from Maryland, Matth began rapping at age 13, and later joined a local hip-hop group known as Ill Fam. Managed by current 92.3 FM radio personality DJ Rodd Madd Flava, Ill Fam possesed the talent and drive to become a successful act. However, Ill Fam was unable to secure a record deal. Going by the alias of "Genocide", Matth was remebered for his memorable verse on the 1998 cut "Live Sh*t". Those who remembered a young Matth, compared his adolescent rhyme style to the mid 90s flow of Mobb Deep member Prodigy. While attending Meade Senior High School in Maryland, Matth mastered the art of the cipher. Battling his fellow schoolmates, he developed an uncanny ability to rhyme a fluid bar structure in simple acapella form. In 1998, He would also become a member of the short lived group Murder One Fam. Over the Royal Flush instrumental "Iced Out Medallions", Murder One released "Murder One Assassins". However, the group would later disband due to musical differences. Throughout his high school years, Matth would perform on stage with the likes of Canibus, The Fugees, and A Tribe Called Quest. In 1994, Matth would meet his close friend and current business partner Dareil Irby. After finishing high school, Matth’s rhyme career came to a stand still. In 2001, Irby landed a job as a freelance music promoter, and with Matths assistance they relentlessly promoted the likes of heavy metal rock act Buckcherry. "We quickly realized that we were assisting another music act with the progression of their career, and we weren’t really focused on building our own brand" says Irby. In 2004, Matth and Irby formed DarKen Management Inc. Refusing to no longer deal with the "politics" of the music business, Matth decided to once again pick up the microphone. Backed by the production of Shamroc, J.Mulls, El Camino, L.C.D and Marc Laron, Matth promises to answer the call with his debut album Watermarked. Matth promises to recapture the true essence of hip-hop and the life of the MC. --hiphopsince1982
