Lyrics

Two Fourteen

You can’t stop a river from flowin’
Can’t even change the tide
Can’t stop love from showin’
I know, I tried

Everybody feels love in their own way.
Everybody’s heart’s been broke before.
You can’t say, not for a second.
That it won’t happen anymore.

You can’t stop the rain from fallin’
Even on a sunny day.
Can’t stop memories from callin’
Can’t even get out of their way

It’s a coaster ride from the first day
Just when you reach the top
Then you’re fallin’ headlong down the midway
On a ride that never stops

Can’t stop love from diein’
Or hurting you deep inside
Can’t stop tears from cryin’
I know, I know, I know I tried

And only time can find a new love
And it may be better than before
But, right here and now it’s called real life
And you feel like you can’t take it any more

No you can’t stop a river from flowin’
Can’t even change the tide
Can’t stop love from showin’
I know, I know, I know I tried
I know, I know, I know I tried
I know, I know, I know I tried

Pioneer Love Song

Written By: Matt Hammer

He was a pioneer
He had his ear to the ground
He left the city streets
For a cabin on Prince Williams Sound
You see his wife had died and he’d survived
There was adventure there in the northern air
Maybe a family

She was from Portland
Where her parents were divorced
So she finished high school
Then she enrolled in a northern course
She took the ferry there to the northern air
In hopes that she could be, all that she could be
And make a family

And their love was consummated underneath the northern sky
When the Northern light were shinin’ a thousand colors wide
The Northern Light were brighter that they’d ever seen before
They came right through the window and danced upon the flood

She worked at a café
He came in almost every single day
She got to lookin’ forward
To the times he came her way
He thought she looked pretty good she knew he would
There was magic there in the northern air
To make a family

(bridge)

And their love was consummated underneath the northern sky
When the Northern light were shinin’ a thousand colors wide
The Northern Light were brighter that they’d ever seen before
They came right through the window and danced upon the flood
The Northern Light so bright they shone in blue and green and red.
That night they came right through the window
And dance upon the bed.
They made a family.

One More Song

Written By: Matt Hammer

One more song for your memory
One more moment to rhyme
One more card for your scrap book
One more dozen roses to dry

One more song from the heart of me
Of one more moment with you
One more dance in the parking lot
Just one more thing that I could do

I said one more chance for the two of us
I guess one more chance came and gone
Now it one more night with this old guitar
Trying to write you one more song

(Bridge)

If I had the faith of Noah
And if I knew two by two we’d weather the storm
Then we’d be there in some shady cove
You’re writing one more romance novel
I’m writing one more song

I’ve got one more thing I’ve got to tell you
Just one more thing I have to say
You know the way you use to think of me
One more time think of me that way

Just one more glimpse at a faded dream
And then I’ll look towards the sun
One more time I’ll find the best of me
And one more time I’ll carry on
