Matt Hetrick

I started singing in church, with my mom, Cathy, at the age of 6 years old which only made my interest and love for music grow. On my 8th birthday I received a Lillian Vernon guitar from my great grandmother, playing on and off until middle school when I started teaching myself songs and really diving into music as a passion and an outlet for some of the struggles that come with growing up. The ukulele came around my sophomore year of college, borrowing my neighbors after hearing him playing through the walls and decided to incorporate it into my gigs. Always wanting to learn new instruments, I received a mandolin for Christmas in 2010 and have starting learning songs. Being that I have been able to teach myself these three instruments, as well as piano and drums without being able to read music and not taking one lesson for any instrument in my life, it gives me a sense of accomplishment and determination to practice and be the best I can be.

My sound has been influenced by many artists including John Mayer, Matt Wertz, The Format, Lady Antebellum and Jack Johnson, to name a few. Since my voice has such a wide range, I am able to incorporate songs by both female and male artists into my shows and perform them with ease.
