The Demons have found a quick replacement for veteran forward Russell Robertson, musically at least.
Matthew Bate has been playing gigs with his sister, Melanie, at Balsamic Bar in Ringwood every Thursday this season, singing and playing guitar.
"I've been playing doing some solo gigs for about a year and my sister works at Balsamic," Bate, 22, said.
"They (Balsamic) were keen and I got Melanie a few vocal lessons and it turned out she had a pretty amazing voice."
Bate said he had teamed up with Robertson.
"I've already played a couple of gigs with Robbo," he said.
"It's amazing, just to have something outside footy, to have that balance. It's my way of releasing." - Herald sun

Bio
We are brother and sister and we began playing live together about a year ago. We were playing covers until we decided to write some originals and we were really happy with what we were coming up with so we started to play them live as well. We both have a wide range of influences from Nirvana, Jack Johnson, to eskimo joe, muse, arctic monkeys, and Kasabian. These influences have given us a diverse range of ideas and a distinct sound. We aim to make our music unpredictable and to challenge the listener by making every song different to the last.
