"Ginny McAbe Review"

Matthew Eldridge
By Ginny McCabe

Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Matthew Eldridge has a special gift and a musical talent that far surpasses much of today’s competition.
Eldridge’s diverse, yet outstanding collection of songs deliver a raw, folky, acoustic-based sound that has the ability to reach a broad audience.
His songs touch on a variety of different topics and emotions. Some of his songs seem to be more straight-ahead worship songs, while others could easily fit into the mainstream, pop/rock genre.
The song “Holy” is an acoustic-based song that combines emotive vocals, meaningful lyrics and a solid acoustic, guitar driven sound.
As a portion of the song’s lyrics relate, “Many days, many nights when I try to see your face/You’re just an illusion in my head/Might as well turn it off, turn me off yeah/Cause what I need is something real/I need You/You are holy, You hold me/When I’ve lost my way, you bring me back to You…”
Another song, “Never Be The Same,” was selected for a 9/11 benefit CD that also featured Peter Frampton.
“Send Your Healing Rain” is a piano-based ballad that continues to reflect Eldridge’s heartfelt delivery and dynamic vocal stylings.
The song “Made to Worship,” is an upbeat, poppy worship song that includes a variety of different instrumentation - mandolin, banjo, harmonicas, and violin.
As a full-time worship pastor and youth leader, Eldridge devotes many of his talents to his home church, but his music has the ability to reach far beyond the walls of the church.
Listeners will welcome his driving passion, raw emotion and the universal messages he has the ability to deliver.
