Bio
Hailing from the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, Matt Mesa crafts songs reflecting everything about the landscape and its two-legged inhabitants. With guitar in hand and harmonicas close by, he weaves tales about love, life, asphalt, dirt, and everything else we get on ourselves. Previously, Mesa fronted the alt-bluegrass quartet No Depression--who later changed their name to All Night Station (for, perhaps, obvious reasons). This band was a local favorite around the Gorge, playing a raucous mix of originals and obscure covers (anyone for Pictures of Matchstick Men?) Later, he fronted the rootsy, alt-country band mile marker 6. This was certainly a more electric adventure, adding drums and electric guitars to the mix along with two and three part harmonies. This band had potential--too bad. Currently, Mesa is plying his trade, playing in clubs and bars around the Gorge for tips and beer. Most of the time, he is joined by some rather extraordinary guitarists--right now playing with guitarist Mike Brinster and drummer Bryan McGeeney. Together, they are a lively, entertaining trio just teetering on the edge. Come see what all the fuss is about...
