Raised in the small town of Clinton, N.Y., Matthew began his musical career early. By the age of 10, he had mastered the cello. At 11, he was the rising star of his school�s esteemed public chorus group. At that point, he knew he wanted to devote his life to music. Although classically trained, he gained a vast knowledge of different styles and variations. His cello and singing performances took him around the country�travels which would later influence his songwriting.

It wasn�t until his late teens that Matthew became seduced by the body and soul of the guitar. He immediately fell in love with the instrument. Self-taught, he began an exciting writing career. Inspired by the characters and stories he had absorbed on the road, Matthew developed an exceptional songwriting style. Unlike other singer-songwriters in the same genre, Matthew has a fresh edge to his music�a Brooklyn flavor. He expresses a spectrum of complex emotions�from upbeat and joyful to dark and thoughtful�that reflect real-life experiences. His songs energize crowds, but they are more than catchy tunes. Each one has a depth that demonstrates Matthew�s sensitive maturity.
