"Good Rockin' Friday"

One of the best club showcases of local bands has pop rockers the Matthew Shadley Band hosting what it bills as its second annual "Good Friday Bash" at Alchemize... Also on the bill, the grungy roots rock of the Stapletons, acoustic pop from Steven Gregory and pop rockers Odd Man Out. 3-24-05

"MPMF Review"

"The Matthew Shadley Band are new to me. They play it pretty loose, but it really works for them. The Matthew Shadley Band is good..." Juliana Salinas-Jump 9-30-05

"These guys remind me of the Wallflowers and have that sort of straight-up-rock-on-the-verge-of-country sound." Jason Jump 9-30-05 - Randomville

"Midpoint 2005 Preview"

Conceived as a side project from ethereal Prog rockers Staring at the Sea, guitarist Matthew Shadley started his own band in 2003 to explore a rootsier acoustic sound. Within a year, the quintet had secured a line-up, switched to an electric presentation and released their debut CD, Five Easy Pieces, making an immediate impact on the local scene.

"MPMF Reviews"

I finally got a chance to listen to some of the CD's I picked up at MPMF.

I was blown away with a standout track from The Matthew Shadley Band's disc, "Five Easy Pieces." The track is the third on the disc, titled, "Milestones." WOW, this is a MONSTER! This is the gem I'm always looking for, but rarely find.

I've been wanting to see and hear this talented group for some, after hearing many good things about them. I was not disappointed Saturday evening at the RBC!

What does this rocker, "Milestones", sound like? How 'bout a little Black Crowes swagger and some of the sweetest flow and rhythm since Traffic!

If you love great rock and guitar, check this track out!

The first track "Beautiful Life" isn't too shabby, either! Another great rocker (And it's got COWBELL).

Overall, a very nice CD with a MONSTER lurking on it!

I can't wait for this group's next release! - Cincymusic.com

"News and Notes"

The Matthew Shadley Band releases Five Easy Pieces on Saturday at the York Street Café. Harmony-laden, guitar-based Pop/Rock that takes its cue from The Beatles, The Jayhawks and Buffalo Springfield, the five-song Five Easy Pieces is the first release from the group, which is fronted by Matthew Shadley Brauer, formerly of Staring at the Sea. The group plans a second, "official" release party at the Barrelhouse on Aug. 20. (matthewshadleyband.com).

"Artist of the Week"

Interview

CW: Describe your sound.

MSB: Ohio Rock with a California Soul.

CW: What makes your band and your music original or unique?

MSB: We have a unique blend of styles and influences that come together over a solid rock foundation. We don’t leave anything on the shelf.

CW: What inspires your music?

MSB: A respect for all the twists and turns that make life what it is.

CW: How do you define True Music?

MSB: True Music is never contrived. It always comes straight from the heart and it speaks directly to the soul. True Music is something that you experience, not something you listen to.

CW: What is the best part of playing live?

MSB: There is nothing that can describe the feeling on stage when the band is in a perfect groove. It’s like an out-of-body experience where each band member and each person in the audience can actually feel the music and become the music, rather than playing it or hearing it.
