Bio

With a new record, and the single "long wait" being released nationally, as well as recieving some radio airplay, matt.james is grabbing national attention.

Being influenced by such bands as The Goo Goo Dolls, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Keith Urban has given matt.james a unique yet starkly familiar sound.

As a teenager in the nineties, matt.james fronted his band 5k-Full, writing most of the songs. The band's single, "mask" received regular radio play, and quickly beat out fellow Floridians, Creed, from listener requests on a local radio station.

A busy schedule on the road is one of matt.james biggest inspirations for writing music.
"In spring of '08," matt.james recalls, "on the way to Chicago, I had huge inspiration. When we got just north of Nashville, I was captivated by the rolling hills and the scenery in general. A lot was going on in my life at the time, and the trip was a way to unplug for a few days and relax. At that moment looking out the van window, it was like the melody and lyrics to a song just fell into my lap. I wrote a short, 45 second tune from that trip, and always felt like one day I would finish it. One year later while on another trip to Little Rock, I had my guitar in my lap, and out of no where the rest of the song came to me. It took me about ten minutes to finish it up."

A wide range of life experiences is the driving force behind the lyrical content of matt.james' songs. A veteran of the Navy, a U.S. gold medal speedskater, father, songwriter... matt.james has walked through a lot of life. His songs approach life from a very real perspective, and fans can feel it.
"I get people coming up to me saying that they listen to a certain song over and over because it said what they felt. Like the song said something in a way that made it all make sense."

The live shows are what it's all about for matt.james. Connecting with fans, meeting new people, and entertaining the crowd are a driving force that keep the wheels turning. It's a rarity that you will be at a show and not see people singing along and tapping their feet.
