Matt James is the latest soul sensation to come out of the “heart” of New York City., His soulful pop rock sound is invigorating, inviting and meaningful. Just listen to “New Yorker” a catchy pop tune Matt penned for his beloved New York hometown. It has all the ingredients for a hit song! While performing his song “I Believe” at a New York workshop, award wining songwriter, producer and artist Gordon Chambers admitted “ Now that’s an excellent hook for a song” and encouraged Matt to pursue his singing and songwriting career.

Presently, Matt James has completed his debut album “Spirit of the Music” at Broken Land Studios with extremely talented producer and multi instrumentalist Alex Perez who is also the front man for the band Plaza Toros and lead guitarist for Dimestore Scenario. “Working with Matt James has been a wonderful experience for me, Matt’s music is very catchy and it has great soul and meaning” says Alex. It was really exciting to watch the crowd chant “I’m a New Yorker” at a Matt James performance at the Groove Lounge in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village.

Performing with Matt James are drummers Eddie Martinez, Telli Gramz, Peter Sacristan, Raf Zero and saxophonist Lawrence Ramsey. Bassist and visionary Carl Dennis gives the music a true groove and guitarists Carlos Eduardo Gutierrez and Alex Perez bring a third dimension to each song.
