Matt Kalin

Hi. I'm Matt.

I live in Minnesota and I play music. I sing. I play piano. I play guitar. I play bass. I like shaking shakers. I don't know how to play the drums. or the oboe.

I perform in restaurants and nightclubs. I play at weddings. I teach a few piano lessons. I practice. Sometimes I play for other people. Sometimes I play just for myself.

I work in a music studio. I help musicians create recordings so their fans and friends can listen to their music on a CD or an iPod.

For many years, I have also taught music classes for kids and their families. What a blast. There's really not much more fun to be had in the world.

I learned some great songs to sing. I asked kids about their favorite songs and I polled their parents, too. I found some old American folk songs that families have been singing for a hundred years or more.

I wrote some new ones. I tried them out in kindergartens and at birthday parties. A few times, I sang new songs at coffee shops for adults to see if they would like them, too.

I invited some friends to come to the studio to record the songs I'd written. They are excellent musicians.

I wanted to make recordings of songs for kids that the adults in their life will love, too.

I hope families will sing along with the music in the car and at home and in the park and at school. I hope some will sing these songs to themselves while hiking in the woods or canoeing a stream.
