Artist: Matt Martino
Title: Let It Shine
Website: http://www.mattmartino.net
Style: Retro/ Pop
Label: Stank Records
Rating: 8.25 out of 10
By Senior Writer C.W. Ross

Matt Martino is best known for his time spent with the band, The Stank . That should be changing soon though with, Let It Shine, Matt's solo debut release.

Matt puts his stamp on almost every part of this project from writing or co-writing all of the eleven songs found on Let It Shine to producing and engineering duties.

Matt's music has already gotten noticed in his new home base of Nashville, Tennessee winning a Discover Award given by Music Row Publications to the hottest up and coming music artist.

The songs found on Let It Shine are well put together and blend pop and acoustic type moments in them. Matt's vocals have a very unique tone to them that pulls you in to the songs.

The songs deal with often-hard real life situations in a mature way.

The release really ends strong with tracks 9-11:

Track 9- "Goodbye Chicago" is a piano and saxophone lead instrumental track.

Track 10- "View From A Barstool" a ballad that deals with past mistakes and second chances.

Track 11- "Things Are Gonna Be Just Fine" can best be described as a horns and organ infused Gospel style song that will have your feet stomping and your hands clapping.

In the crowded pack of musicians found in 'Music City' Let It Shine should help Matt's musical star to shine brightly. - C.W. Ross

—Recorded in East Nashville, Matt’s Let it Shine CD is a celebration of pop classicism. His beautifully melodic tunes, like this track, scamper into your heart and charm your brain. This showcases his honest, unforced singing with tinges of R&B, gospel and jazz around the edges. Elsewhere, we get tastes of his skills as a pianist and saxophone player. The CD release party will be at B.B. King’s on July 28th. Be there or be square.

But the high turnout was no surprise to Martino and company, who have so far been greeted with overwhelming support for "Let it Shine".
