"Matt McGinn - Double Bed & other wee tunes"

What this EP demonstrates is that even when they’re not recorded very well, real instruments still have the power to engage the listener in a way that the most perfect MIDI tracks can’t. And although all four tunes are at least a minute too long, they show that Matt McGinn has great promise as a songwriter, with influences ranging from the Beatles to John Martyn. Sam Inglis - Sound on Sound

Discography

released my debut E.P. late last year to critical acclaim. It was basically a home recorded budgeted project that proved much greater than it's means, especially as it did not appear that way to the critics and also received an enormous amount of airplay not only in the North of Ireland, but also the UK and the rest of Ireland. One song from the E.P., take you home, was chosen to partner the 2008 television campaign of 'Concern Worldwide', and was shown between January and March, on all major television channels, for example RTE, Channel 4, Channel 5, Paramount etc.. Other songs are at the minute contemplated for a new TV series which is being labeled 'the Irish version of the Channel 4 show Skins'.

HELLO & WELCOME!!! You have just ventured into the wonderful world of Matt McGinn. Make yourself at home. Originating in a tiny village in the Mourne Mountains called Hilltown, Matt has made his stamp on the Northern Irish music scene and further afield. Last year Matt has recorded and released his self-produced debut E.P., performed in places as far off as Washington and Denmark, and has blown audiences away at many high profile gigs in London and Ireland, including the Bedford (London); a remarkable evening in Belfast, celebrating the album Astral Weeks, along with Duke Special and Brian Huston; a show topping performance in Dublin's prestigious Hard Working Class Heroes festival; and a debut performance st Electric Picnic in 2007. The year 2010 has been a busy one for Matt. He was called upon to play keyboards for Joe Echo (Madonna/Killing Bono) and is set to release his debut album in December of this year.
