Lyrics

Lower Middle Class

Written By: Matt Moncrief

So I turn my head and walk away
I don’t feel like seein my faults today
The earth moves, subtle grooves
Put a smile on my face
But I’m never quite as happy
As when I’m leavin this place
Sittin here, can’t become
What I wanted to be
Watchin the same three channels
Of free TV
I stand up just to get up
I prop my joints and my head up
Maybe at some point I’ll get fed up
With livin in the middle

There’s a congregation on my floor tonight
As everyone takes their places
Too much conversation of wrong or right
Too many holes and open spaces
As I sigh to myself, breath out then hold it in
I takes a wise man to just let things go
As I smile to myself I try to hide my grin
I live contently in just what I know

So I turn my head and walk away
I don’t feel like seein my faults today
The earth moves, subtle grooves
Put a smile on my face
But I’m never quite as happy
As when I’m leavin this place
Sittin here, can’t become
What I wanted to be
Watchin the same three channels
Of free TV
I stand up just to get up
I prop my joints and my head up
Maybe at some point I’ll get fed up
With livin in the middle

No, eating cookies don’t make me happy
Don’t quite fit in cause I’m too nappy
Yeah I pull it back to remove the slack
And I feel the pressure underlying
Thirty minutes to conform their form
Yeah I only like the ones who’re trying
It’s a dream from which my time is torn

So I turn my head and walk away
I don’t feel like seein my faults today
The earth moves, subtle grooves
Put a smile on my face
But I’m never quite as happy
As when I’m leavin this place
Sittin here, can’t become
What I wanted to be
Watchin the same three channels
Of free TV
I stand up just to get up
I prop my joints and my head up
Maybe at some point I’ll get fed up
With livin in the middle

Wasted, wanna sit, for a bit,
Don’t it make you wanna live high
Rise up and take a bow
Break away and wonder how
Everything’s always so simple
You’ve gotta leave hard enough
Do you need to feel this
Grant it for your own wish
Cause I can’t conceive
Just what you believe
Just give me some time
I’ll give you mine

So I turn my head and walk away
I don’t feel like seein my faults today
The earth moves, subtle grooves
Put a smile on my face
But I’m never quite as happy
As when I’m leavin this place
Sittin here, can’t become
What I wanted to be
Watchin the same three channels
Of free TV
I stand up just to get up
I prop my joints and my head up
Maybe at some point I’ll get fed up
With livin in the middle

Follow Through

Written By: Matt Moncrief

I’ve seen enough of this world
To know that me and you should
Find a way to get away
And these paths don’t lead anywhere
They just lead me to another day
Well it’s fine at the time
It just helps me get by
I’m feeling high under a sky of grey
But the rest of the best is sure to come next
If we follow through with what we say

Or am I wasting all away
Just stalling in my mind
I keep pacing day to day
Not looking enough to find
What it takes to make me
I can’t let em’ break me

Do you think that they hear
When I try to speak clear
If I’m sayin something they don’t know
Does respect feel neglect
When I please with my set
And refuse what from my heart does flow
When I feel the wheel
Spinnin round in my head
Do I still have that mass appeal
It’s a shot in the dark
That just might make a spark
And may light this pathway still

Or am I wasting all away
Just stalling in my mind
I keep pacing day to day
Not Looking enough to find
What it takes to make me
I can’t let em’ break me

Just to find something more true
To help me find my way
But I know halfway there won’t do
Always in search of better days

Or am I wasting all away
Just stalling in my mind
I keep pacing day to day
Not looking enough to find
What it takes to make me
I can’t let em’ break me

Every Winter ( Album Version )

Written By: Matt Moncrief

And every winter seems it’s cold enough
And every morning makes me old enough
I take these days along and
Try to find the road that makes me strong
Then I leave it to another hand
Got to be something else here that makes me stand

And then I see you, hair let down, sun dancing on a Saturday
You pull me there by the back of my chair
Sit me down and let me float away
Well, I don’t need too much to grin
But, it’s a sight to see all my sin
And you take me there, you make me aware
So I can see the sunny day
Yeah I can see the sunny day

And all the others in their drama class
They can’t stop and think what it takes to last
They pull you down into their web
It usually winds up in their bed
They embrace simplicity
Living a life with loves absencey

And then I see you, hair let down, sundancing on a Saturday
You pull me there by the back of my chair
Sit me down and let me float away
Well, I don’t need too much to grin
But, it’s a sight to see all my sin
And you take me there, you make me aware
So I can see the sunny day
Yeah I can see the sunny day
