Biography

Born in Aiken, SC, I've been writing for the better part of a decade but only recently have I begun trying to get feedback on my songs. After spending a couple of years writing with Nashville up and comer Todd Tyler, I've finally become motivated to get my songs out there.

Lyrics

Wishing Well

Written By: Matt Osteen

Another New York morning falls to pieces, as I wake to find you somewhere else
Roll out of bed to the cobwebs there, growing on your pillow
I chase a yellow cab to the market
thinking you might just be inside
But the Sun's still shining on this day and I'm alone even outside.

All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red

I duck in to this little coffee shop,
where I know noone's name.
And before I even say it, my order's there the same
Well the dates are always changing, but the newsman's stories not.
How do I seem to get here it's like someplace time forgot.

All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red

I'd give a penny for your thoughts, just one
And I'd save it for my own
All others go the wishing well that your ghost seems to call home
I look into my eyes, from the mirror on my wall.
The only easy day was yesterday and the Sun's still rising after all.

All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red
All the dates are marked in red

Run Out

Written By: Matt Osteen

I can't seem to keep my head above water
It's been raining for days now
I'm walking this desert alone
can't seem to find where she's gone
Saw you leaving this morning
one more gray sky dawning
This part time job pays the bills
Gotta climb a mount to get a thrill

Ch.
And it's two tears in the bottom of glass
and I'm sinking fast trying to make it last
and I'm pulled over and I'm trying to sleep but the trains so loud the trains so loud as it runs out on me
it always runs out on me

I've been burning the candle
from both ends sometimes more
i've gotta get up my courage
but my spoons on the floor
I cut a hole in the ceiling
so I could get out of my head
I've got this trapped funny feeling
and I'm gonna run on till I'm dead

Chorus

I've wrestled with myself for so long
can't even remember the words to my own song
stay up all night and I sleep all day
cause it's so much easier not to dream
when the dark has gone away
step slightly left or maybe right
but the man in the mirror's sleeping alone tonight
I know one things for sure I'm going down
can't seem to find a way out of this town

I'm stuck in the bottom of a glass
sinking fast trying to make it last
I'm pulled over and I'm trying to sleep but the train's so loud the train's so loud as it runs out on me
you always run out on me
