Lyrics

Esperanza

Written By: Matt Porter

Alone and unwanted she’s never known love
A young girl arrives with less than enough
Not enough sweet dreams or tuck-ins late at night
Not enough I love “you’s” as they turn out the lights
She’s taken from abuse, she’s taken from the streets
Taken from a world that never met her needs
She walks through the doors with tears in her eyes
Could this be the place to rebuild her broken life
She’s helpless, she’s hopeless

But in this house of hope, she’s beautiful
And in this place of peace, she’s loved
She’ll find one hope, she’ll find one God
She’ll find painted nails and fairy tales
And more than those sweet dreams could ever bring

Here stands a father with the working man’s life
Once was a Christian just ran out of time
Time for his children and time for his wife
Time for “I love you’s” while turning out the lights
He’s missing out on family, he’s missing so much more
The fellowship, the ministry, the things he loved before
He walks through those doors for the first time in years
Returns to his old pew, his eyes filled with tears
He’s helpless, he’s hopeless

But in this house of hope, he’s whole again
And in this place of peace, he’s loved
He’ll find one hope, he’ll find one God
He’ll find a healing heart, a brand new start
And more than those late hours could ever bring

This whole world is fallen, each of us is lost
We deserve the crown of thorns, but Jesus paid the cost
So if we all embrace Him, and call upon His name
We can know the hope he gives, and in our hearts He’ll reign

In His house of hope, we’re beautiful
In His place of peace, we’re loved
We’ll find one hope, we’ll find one God
We’ll find streets of gold, the young and old
And more than this lost world could ever bring

Someday

Written By: Matt Porter

The Cinderella life, temporary Eden
Is what we’re longing for
But what about the life, found beyond this time
It’s a hope for so much more

What will come of me if I
Let go of all I hold inside

Someday I know we’ll all see that
All we need is just to believe in you
Every knee will finally bow
To the king of kings, someday soon

I don’t know the day of my God’s return
But I’m sure to be prepared
Cause I’ll live today like tomorrow’s nothing
And I’ll lift my hands in praise

Holy, holy, holy Lord
I am waiting for that time

Someday I know we’ll all see that
All we need is just to believe in you
Every knee will finally bow
To the king of kings, someday soon

I’m looking forward to that day
When I’ll stand before your throne

Someday I know we’ll all see that
All we need is just to believe in you
Every knee will finally bow
To the king of kings, someday soon

Shine Down

Written By: Matt Porter

If I don't make it past today
Help me to realize
There's so much more beyond this life
But while I'm here I want to be
Serving You with everything
Everything in me

You are the light of the world
Won't you shine down on me
Light the lamp that burns my heart
Open my eyes so I can see
See the truth that stands before me
See the life I need to lead
So won't you shine down
Won't you shine down on me

Just as salt can lose its taste
And never be made the same again
I could lose my faith
But if I live by faith
And not by men
How could I lose sight of You then

You are the light of the world
Won't you shine down on me
Light the lamp that burns my heart
Open my eyes so I can see
See the truth that stands before me
See the life I need to lead
So won't you shine down
Won't you shine down

Be my refuge, be my strength
The strength I need in me
To make it when I'm weak
And guide me, oh Lord
Every road I travel down
For only You know the way

You are the light of the world
Won't you shine down on me
Light the lamp that burns my heart
Open my eyes so I can see
See the truth that stands before me
See the life I need to lead
So won't you shine down
Won't you shine down me
