Biography

Matt Salaverry decided to leave his corporate job at the end of 2003 to pursue his music career. Matt has long been known for his music and voice, but got side tracked. Bottom line, the musical passion burning within him could not be suppressed. After several years in New York City, he took the leap of faith and left it all behind. He is clearly destined to do one thing and anyone who hears him will agree - he’s the real deal.

Matt took a hiatus from NYC for most of 2004 to work on an EP and has since returned to perform and promote his music. His self-produced work, on which he plays all the instruments, showcases his powerful vocals and backs it up with compelling songwriting, and dynamic instrumentation and production. His passionate vocals are delivered with a distinct understanding of melody and composition, while his charcoal grey tones and soulful style are undeniably captivating. The songs are catchy and especially profound when Matt unleashes his potent and rugged upper range. Matt’s music and voice have a universal appeal, an eternal familiarity, and he is sure to find a wide-ranging audience.

A Multi-instrumentalist, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, but left after one year to start a band. After a short stint he decided to go to a different college.

During those first couple of years after he graduated he was able to write and record a never officially released EP, with tracks such as, I’ll Try, The Mystery & Slipping Away. The music was extremely well received by a broad range of listeners. During this time Matt Salaverry was occasionally a featured artist at BMI Singer/Songwriter showcases, and had some initial interest from several industry veterans.

For the next several years his job became more demanding and Matt had less time for his music, but in November of 2001 he began spending his free time recording new songs and honing his production chops. Finally, at the end of 2003 he decided to leave the corporate world behind, take the leap of faith, and do what he was really meant to do. When you hear him sing, you’ll have not doubt it was the right choice.

Lyrics

Lightning

Written By: Matt Salaverry

The lightning falls on a distant sky
You count till you hear the thunder for the reason why

Seems it might be farther than what you thought was time
Well you’re not going to take a number, not going to wait in line

And now we will find out if there’s really a storm
It’s not too late to show’m who the * you are
The rain it whispers before it falls
And you have already shined

If you feel the wind, it is rollin’ in, the louder it gets
You anticipate, pressure drops down, before it begins

The lightning falls on a distant sky
You count till you hear the thunder for the reason why

And now we will find out if there’s really a storm
It’s not too late to show’m who the * you are
The rain it whispers before it falls
And you have already shined

All Your Life

Written By: Matt Salaverry

It’s been a long time, I don’t even know what’s on my mind
I think I just want to breathe
You take a glass of wine, and you drink from your pride
Maybe you’ll just have to concede

So you close your eyes, you are a child
Learning how to deal with the dear
You could cry or you could fight,
for how you want to take it from here

If you’re wrong at least they’ll say you tried
You are long on nothing left to hide
When you’re on, you know they can’t deny
It’s the song you carried all your life

So you open a road, you try find what you don’t know
You’re the only one who needs to believe
You’ve taken it slow, a long life what can you show
You’re younger than the things that you need

If you’re wrong at least they’ll say you tried
You are long on nothing left to hide
When you’re on you know they can’t deny
It’s the song you carried all your life

Well you got to control, think of the fate that you hold
It’s time for you to make it real
When you let go, and you take what is yours
You’ll know exactly how it should feel

If you’re wrong at least they’ll say you tried
You are long on nothing left to hide
When you’re on you know they can’t deny
It’s the song you carried all your life

Into The Night

Written By: Matt Salaverry

In the morning we hit the road without a destination known
Between the two of us a trip is all we need
I was sitting shotgun for a while, a couple of hundred miles
When the sun it started setting in your eyes

You’re so inviting
I think you are just like me
The radio was trying
We just kept on driving

Into the night, and then our song came on
And we held hands, and we sang along
We harmonized, but we were one
Look in your eyes, something’s begun

The places that we’d go, like a little candy store
You told me it reminded you of summer
And we’d walk around the town, and decide that we should bounce
And take a piece of it and find another

You’re so inviting
I think you are just like me
The radio was trying
We just kept on driving

Into the night, and then our song came on
And we held hands, and we sang along
We harmonized, but we were one
Look in your eyes, something’s begun

I played it for you when we were apart
I tried to get through, it wasn’t enough
Don’t you want to take a ride?
Don’t you have a reason why?
Remember when we had each other
And the engine motor made us want to drive
