Bio

Amidst the buzz of laptops and cell phones in the business-student-filled dorms at Babson College in Wellesley, MA, the sound of Matt Tobin's acoustic guitar could always be heard. Besides keeping his dorm up all night with his rhythms, Matt developed what is now his signature sound of percussive guitar playing with infectious melodies. In fact, it wasn't until Matt's college days when his songwriting and guitar playing began. "I felt like I needed to make up for lost time," says Matt "It just hit me like a brick that this is what I needed to do and I haven't really stopped since."

While in school, Matt honed his skills at crowded campus parties and events with his acoustic-guitar infused rock. He also opened for college-scene favorite Howie Day while at Babson College in spring of 2001. His hard-strummed acoustic style and soaring vocals draw on influences from Dave Matthews, Led Zeppelin, U2, and Radiohead.

Matt's energetic one-man live show has been seen in his regular spots such as Harpers Ferry in Allston, MA and the Kendall Café in Cambridge, as well as in the regional college scene and clubs all over New England. Along the way, Matt has opened for acts including Fighting Gravity, Sean Kelly of the Samples, Averi, Labb, and Antigone Rising. "Playing live is really what it's all about for me," Matt explains "this is my life and my passion, and to go out and share it with people really drives me." Though currently working on his debut CD, some of Matt's recordings are available for download on his website (www.matttobin.com)
Still playing everywhere and anywhere, Matt is concentrating on building a grass roots fan base, one show at a time.
