Bio
Matthew Tomlinson started performing in musicals when he was 12 and has been involved with the stage ever since. After playing drums in several bands he moved from Ontario to Montreal in the late 90's where he has worked as an actor, writer, and filmmaker. Always interested in songwriting, Tomlinson launched his first EP in 2002. His vocals 'have the roughness of a troubadour' and his 'carefully crafted songs' are delivered with a classic simplicity. He has sold countless home recordings at shows, but has yet to release a full fledged album - this despite penning several albums worth of material. Often accused of perfectionism, Tomlinson is more like an artist that is in it for the long haul. Drawing on his diverse background he has made compelling music for numerous plays, dance pieces, and films, most recently composing the soundtrack for Waltown. He is currently working on another film and a new album.
