Punk-rocker-turned-singer-songwriter isn’t clever or new, but at least it’s honest.
Having cut her teeth in bands like OUTTACONTROLLER, Future Girls & Weekend Dads, Matty is brings a new approach to the grind. So earnest it sounds like the way it feels to sit in the middle back seat of a cramped tour van - doused in a sort of crushing optimism - Matty’s solo debut is the product of her years spent collecting scars playing basement shows and scrounging together just enough gas money to get to the next stop.
“Rumination Year” is a rare and brutally honest glimpse of rawness. Matty bares her soul in this refreshing and truly genuine album about change... and the despair of being human.
