Matty ONeill is an Australian Producer: Writer: Musician based in Toronto, Canada.

Classically trained from an early age in piano, guitar and vocals, Matty has the education, experience and versatility to get him through a vast array of musical tasks. He has a love of blues, hard rock, pop and country.

As a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter he started the indie pop-rock band “doogle” from 1999 – 2003. doogle released 2 EPs, a live album and a DVD. They achieved songs featured on radio Triple J and commercial radio airplay on the Austereo network, Australia wide. doogle also played many sold out shows and festivals in Brisbane and along the East Coast of Australia. As well as having music placement in short films.

Meanwhile on the business side of the industry, Matty completed a Bachelor of Business, Majoring in Marketing (with a Music focus). He then gained experience, working in promotions for four years at Warner Music.

Through his label work he has opportunity to meet and work with The Stereophonics, The Dandy Warhols, The Living End, Supergrass, Oasis, Powderfinger, Ryan Adams and Evan Dando as well as many other great artists.

2003 saw Matty go to London to perform. He also performed in clubs in Paris, Barcelona and Edinburgh.

Once that trip was over, it was time to re-evaluate and Matty decided to focus on songwriting, traveling to places like Byron Bay, The WhitSundays, Sydney, Melbourne and all along the East Coast of Australia, shaping and crafting the songs that would eventually form a solo record. He also worked for a year at Sony Australia.

While at Sony, in 2004 Matty met producer Ken Bird and formed "Copious" a concept band that aimed to sound like a rock band, that had been completely re-mixed. That band wrote and produced one album and spent several years developing demos and shopping to labels. Some interest was achieved and local commercial radio was supportive.

Obsessed with improving and pushing to be the best he could be, Matty took vocal master classes, attended songwriting clinics and seminars, and performed live regularly which all influenced his songwriting.

Mostly travel, living situations, and common life stories lead to the forming of a bohemian rock band called “The Maybe Favours” with some good friends, which produced one EP and the track “Pill’s n Lines” appeared on a surf DVD.

Another band "Matt n Bird" also with Ken Bird was formed in 2007 and they wrote and produced over 30 rock songs. They appeared on the The Today Show (National morning breakfast show) in Australia, and played some local shows.

The songwriting partnership ended amicably between Matty and Ken Bird in 2008.

In 2009 Matty relocated from his native Brisbane, Australia, (via Tokyo and New York City) to Toronto, Canada.

Matty is currently working as a music composer for film and television.

In July 2009, Matty made the shortlist for The Australian Songwriting Contest with his song "Holding On To You"
