Lyrics

cloudburst

Written By: maureen obrien

sometimes
you've just gotta
take that leap of faith
give it up for the blind man
he's making it every day
you're wearing shades in the sunshine
but they colour your sight in the light
and there's none so blind that they
cannot see
they're turning left instead of making a right

Y' gonna love me[when I'm gone]

Written By: maureen o'brien

Chorus:
you’re gonna love me when I’m gone
you’re gonna love me when I’m gone
you’re gonna weep and wail so you may as well love me while I’m still around
..............
I went knock knock knock on the pearly gate St Peter hollered “just you wait”
I’m not too sure if you belong cos I heard you been writing them dirty songs
My book says you had a lot of vice, it’s time now girl to pay the price
Just turn around, hitch a ride, cos the muso’s door’s on the other side
[so I said to St Peter]
Chorus;
.................................
I went tap tap tap on the muso’s door said “let me in boys - wanna play some more”
But ol’ Louie Armstrong barr’d my way say’n “uh uh girl you just can’t stay
We got muso’s here they’re the cream of the crop ‘n you’re just known for the chords you drop
Don’t tap don’t knock don’t ring that bell....you’re going down to Muso’s Hell
{so I said to Mr A}
Chorus:
........................................
Now I rang that bell on the door to hell ‘n heard someone holler “well this is swell”
The door blew open i looked inside – that’s when I knew I really had died
Cos waving me in like a new-wed bride was the hells Folk Club called “Rising Tide”
Said we got your number, you’re welcome here....I backed out quick, white with fear

BRIDGE:
now everyone knows where folk muso’s go
They don’t really die they just lay there and sigh
For days long gone and music long past its
Use-by date, it’s a terrible state of affairs
Chorus:
.................................

So a warning to all my muso friends start thinking now ‘bout your end
To your technique you should attend, don’t follow those new fangled trends
Like techno loops going round them bends, them errant ways you just must mend
Cos your salvation will depend on the Folk Police as god intends
Chorus:

NOTHING TO PROVE

Written By: maureen obrien

I've got nothing to prove to you
you can take me or leave me it's
all the same to me
I got dreams of my own they don't
require your approval
talk sweet or not at all....or am I
talking to a
Brick Wall?

CH: I'll call it straight down the middle
I don't want to fiddle with words
open your mind just a little
my heart's been skittled by
everything I've heard here!

cloudburst

Written By: maureen obrien

cloudburst!
the heaven's opened
and i caught a glimpse of you
mother of a moment!
and I didn't know what to do
i looked around me to tell somebody
but i was standing all alone
then a voice called a clear direction
'you gotta walk this baby home'

sometimes you've just gotta
take that leap of faith
give it up for the blind man who's
making it every day
you're wearing shades in the sunshine but they colour your sight in the light
and there's none so blind that they cannot see
they're turning left instead of making a right

cloudburst!
the heaven's opened
and i was standing in a storm
the sparks were flying in rained a deluge
then the light began to dawn
it was a message from heaven
that our destiny was sworn
i was sent for you you were meant for me
we've got a new life moving on / we're gonna join and be reborn
