Maurice Keith

Maurice Keith is an American hip hop recording artist, songwriter,
producer and founder of Mpyre Music. Born in New Orleans, La. he spent
most of his adolescent years growing up on the streets of Violet, LA (Da
Parish) where he learned how to survive in the worst circumstances any
child in southern Louisiana during the early 90’s would have to endure
alone. With the loss of his mother at the age of 17 and his father being
away on active duty in the U.S. Army during the time, Maurice was left
to figure out life on his own. That then became an even more difficult
obstacle to overcome with the displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina
back in 2005. This resulted in Maurice having to relocate to the Rose
City capital Tyler, Texas, where he decided to use his new environment
as an opportunity for a fresh start in life.

Music became the main source of expression for all the trials and
accomplishments he had encountered throughout his youth to adult life.
In choosing to pursue a career in the music business, Maurice was
turning his back on the negative influences the streets had to offer for
a life he was now conscious enough to realize he was in control of. His
musical influences came from observing and listening to artists such
Lil Wayne, 2Pac, Twista, Lupe Fiasco, Nas, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Jay
Electronica just to name a few. Maurice Keith continues to pursue his
journey as an independent artist and with the release of his upcoming
project #Summer85 dropping late August 2016. Listeners will get a better
understanding of why he is considered one to be among the greats.
