Mauvais Sort (to put a spell on somebody) presents nowadays arrangements of old day’s folk music. Traditional lyrics mixed to contemporary musical compositions or original stories on old folk rhythms, the group overrules all preconceived notions about Québec Trad music. Regrouping young talented musicians with few musical backgrounds, Mauvais Sort has a musical style extremely hard to define, yet unique and proper to its generation. After more than 550 representations in 8 countries (Canada, Belgium, France, Switzerland, England, Scotland, New-Zealand and USA), a nomination at ADISQ for Traditional Album of the Year in 2003 with Jettatura and a Canadian Folk Music Award for Group of the Year with the album Koru in 2006, Mauvais Sort as won the heart of a lot of fans all around the world! These mid-twenties fellows astonish with their hi-quality show and the passions for reinvented traditions.
