Biography

A quarter. A Tape. A person. What do these three things have in common? There are two sides to each of them. Each with their own personality. Each with their style. Each with their own inner demons. This is the case with Faculty Recordings first act: Antwane McClain, better known as Maveric. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Maveric is in a constant struggle to separate himself from being just the next rapper from New York. Or better yet, the next rapper from the Mecca of rappers, Brooklyn. His style is definitely unique, and his flow almost as fluid as Niagara Falls. But then again, you would be foolish to expect anything less. But to fully understand who this Maveric character is, you must first know who Antwane McClain is.

Unlike most rappers, Antwane McClain was not the product of a broken household, fatherless household, or for that matter, no household. This is where Antwane begins to distance himself from your typical rapper. It appears to be an unwritten law that states that in order to be a successful rapper; you must first not have a father and be subjected to scenes that are in reality nonexistent to most. This is demon number one for Maveric; he has to prove that the lyrical content in your raps should stand for something the way it used to, and not how many bodies you have bagged.

In an attempt to break those stereotypes that are instilled within the veins of hip-hop, Maveric sought and found the ultimate medium to aid in getting his message across; that medium being Faculty Recordings. With the help of the Faculty Family and his own lyrical abilities, Maveric is out to prove that he should be heard. That he is what the game is missing. Will everything work out the way Mav wants it to? Only time will tell until then Maveric is here and the Faculty is where he stays!

Feels So Good

Written By: Antwane McClain

VERSE 1:

momma always said there was something about me/ success was self taught and failure was unlikely/ from day 1 i learned to day 2 i grew/ to day 3 to this ill emcee/ unlike others i was different never followed the in crowd/ outside the box i learned how/ to narrow m thought and put em on paper/ creating these songs for y'all to relate to/ popes he was never there moms left taking care/ of 2 sons one income and still was there/ to give guidance loving us with equal share/ and threw it all she persevered/ theres no mother who's like mines that shine so bright with a light glow/ she smiles and u just know/ that ever things gonna be o.k/ and that tomorrow always brings a new day..

VERSE 3:

It feels good to feel good (u feel me)/ it feels good to be here (u hear me)/ it feels good like rhythm and blues/ feel the rhythm while feeling the grove/ expression threw words i paint murals/ in music i do things you dare not too/ and i'm defying the odds/ place my fate in the hands of the cards/ only God can judge me which makes me the man I am/ life taught me to understand/ that under each rock theres always a lesson to learn/ but u never leave a stone unturned/ u can rely on fate but fate has its own way/ never know when death comes your way/ and it comes in three's three strikes then your whole life change/ and its funny how life switch lanes..

Reach Out

Written By: Antwane McClain

VERSE 1:

Growing up pops never was there/ he left me alone for a single mother to care/ for this young adolescent learning these life lessons/ and at times for her she couldn't stop stressing/ single handily she alone raised a family/ playing mother and father when u didn't even care for me/ u left me here no pain no tears/ and just think I tried to reach out threw these years/ how could u live with your self knowing the pain u caused me/ if time was money imagine the years u just cost me/ my peers had their dads helping them ride bikes/ playing catch in the school yard teaching them how to fight/ deprived i am and hurt i was/ no father i had so how do u expect me to love/ a man who was supposed to be there for me/ i cant but thank u for teaching me responsibility dad

VERSE 2:

Memories of this person is vague/ so much so i cant even remember his name/ oh wait his name was earl (yea thats it)/ pardon me y'all but damn its been a minute/ as a kid growing up with no father/ it was your time to step up but u didn't even bother/ to do so all u did was run/ some godfather u was leaving your work undone/ I reached out i called even went to your house/ and what did i get " I'm sorry but he moved out"/ damn i'm only what about 8 years old/ left outside to hang dry out in the cold/ only memories i have of us is photo sets/ and that one time u took me to see Malcolm x/ u live and u learn thats life correct/ but its u that has to learn and live with these regrets earl..

VERSE 3:

This last verse is for the only male figure/ who stepped up that really cared and took care of a nigga/ whenever a problem occurred in school or out/ he was right there to make sure he can help out/ even though he was locked in and out threw jail/ he always wrote letters to make sure his son was doing well/ biological father he wasn't/ but he showed so much unconditional loving/ he didn't have to he had a son/ who was my brother same mother but treated us as one/ he was the closest thing to a dad i had/ matter of fact he is my dad/ and right now its hard struggling to make ends meat/ but i know if i need i would have in a heart beat/ my heart beats nothing but love and admiration/ and for that u deserve a standing ovation bruce..

It's Never Too Late

Written By: Antwane McClain

VERSE 1:

Ted bennet better known as t.b/ a hood legend but an ill emcee/ he was nice precise with his word play he would eat dudes/ undefeated the man could not loose/ but just like every other rapper in the hood/ he had dreams of one day getting out the hood/ but see ted was 30 living with mom dukes/ an old head but rap he tried to pursuit/ his peers told him "dogs u to old"/ look at you cant even manage your 3 year old/ but did he listen naw he kept gunning/ he was on his eminem tip 8 miles and running/ ambition willed him to succeed/ when everybody gave up faith ted believed/ he had allot to gain and nothing to loose/ with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove that...

VERSE 2:

From studio to studio and demo shopping/ ted hit that bump where every artists just stop and/ he lost that hope and drive to continue/ and started thinking damn I'll never be successful/ but then just when hope seemed out of arms reach/ he got a call that forever changed his life/ the voice on the phone said "is this ted" he said "yes"/ "my name is ron and i'm a record exec/ and right now i'm listening to this demo u sent me/ u got skills come to my office and meet me"/ he paused for a minute then he replied like/ " this cant be true your kidding me right"/ from that point on ted finally stood tall/ his whole life changed from one phone call/ no more living with moms now its giving moms a better living/ and finally his life is worth living for/ when others doubted him ted knew that/ he had what it took to make a real career in rap/ hence the story its never to late/ if u aim to achieve its only u who controls your fate/ don't ever let any one defer u from what u want/ just go get it and trust/ sooner or later the fruits of your labor/ u will cherish and forever your savior/ that time u put in that grind u put in/ them long nights u stayed up constantly writing/ keep your head up and u never should look back/ and anything u do in life just know that...
