BandPopEDM

My name is Maverick Judson and I am from Emo, Ontario. I do not know of many other musicians who have made the transition from being a metal head to a solo pop artist; my influences range from Metallica to Justin Timberlake. In a year’s time, I have evolved from opening the stage for average local acts to the notable rap group, ‘Swollen Members’ (November 2009). You should expect to hear modern pop music from me – but beneath it is a real homegrown product.

Biography

“Acoustic guitar riffs biting through milky synthesizers are only the back drop of an enormous, melancholy atmosphere accented by a dreamy, yet believable vocal presentation.”
My name is Maverick Judson and I am from Emo, Ontario. If there is any feeling or experience I am unable to recreate in song– let me know- and I can assure you that I will prove you wrong. I have always been a stickler for words in the sense that I believe there is a perfect phrasing and unique delivery that is the essence of every thought translated into song and lyric. Some of my utmost repulsive experiences should still resemble some sort of artistic element.
Writing and producing my first album, “You”, released in the summer of 2009, helped preserve some of my most painful, and also, most uplifting experiences. I believe in structure, but I also believe there is no better way to interpret a feeling than by simply capturing it in the moment. In reinforcing this belief, some of my songs were written off-the-cuff.
In the summer of 2009, I returned home to release my CD, “You”, to my friends, family, and other special supporters. I told them that we do not laugh at the same jokes, so why should we cry to the same love songs? Or in other words, ‘interpret these songs as you will; you are the reason why I called my album “You”. Since then, I have sold over 300 CDs, 200 shirts and various other merchandise on my own while attending the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
Currently, I am preparing a 4 song EP to be released in 2010 along with a featured single titled “So Cold” that will include a music video that has been shot with “All Good Projects”. As I am an unsigned, independent artist, I often incorporate unique concepts into self-edited promotional videos to keep my fans guessing!
Overall, my music reflects real experiences that everyone can relate to. If you listen to “You” in its entirety, (or any of my music for that matter), without feeling a connection, then I have failed.

Me

Written By: Maverick Judson

VERSE
What is this? – I don’t need a quick fix
Make me wanna hang up this phone
I’m trying to make the next hit – shaking off the last sitch’
But these keys are so cold
And this pen that I hold
Will mark the words left untold
Off the paper where it’s safer – the secrets filling my clothes
I bet it’s chilling to know
How I’ve been waiting to throw down
Or start digging a hole in the ground – one of the two
I can’t lose
‘Cause there’s something big in this sound
Helping me figure this out
And through you I’ve found

CHORUS x2
Me
Asking the questions with no answers
Pointing fingers to justify the hurt
It’s on me – it’s all me
No room for sorries
When I’m seeking glory

VERSE
Here I lay – unconscious in bed
Where the goose bumps meet the hairs on my neck
As the music feeds and the black ink bleeds
Are you feeling me?
I just need a little room to breathe
So when I’m done you can read
The scratchings of a lost history
Within me – re-living it here
It’s clearer – like a room full of mirrors
I can see

A Ballad Just for You

Written By: Maverick Judson

I miss holding you tight
And the tears that you cried
I won’t catch them in time – in your arms tonight
I wish you were here
Wish you were here
And I’m over there
You could be anywhere
You can tell me what you want from me
And we could be – together
Forever
Whatever it be – I can take you with me
I love you
I love you too – I love you too
If you love me – that’s the way it’s supposed to be
That’s the way I want you to come to me
I want you to see
I love you

Paradise

Written By: Maverick Judson

VERSE
I’ve never felt this way - This is real
When two hearts clash to seal the deal
Believe it
You better believe it
Soon - Those white clouds just might turn grey
You could sit back relax with me
Light the fire - god let it rain
Let’s kiss to set us free

PRE-CHORUS/CHORUS
It’s been a lonely night
Without you by my side
Our minds are filled with wonder
One day we’ll realize
Take a look around
This is paradise
Paradise

VERSE
Infatuation is love
Your presence here is enough
Conceive this
Try to conceive this
Imagine if it happened again
But maybe I just made a friend
Wake up make up for what’s not there
There’s no one around to care

BRIDGE
My conscience says it shows
But you’ll never know

CHORUS

So Cold

Written By: Maverick Judson

CHORUS
You’ve got me feelin' so cold
Turned up the heat and it shows
So cold - so cold
Feeding lies 'til I’m full
Can you tell me how did you know?

VERSE 1
How do you live in the past when you know
It'll never last
Nothin’ happened - love wasn’t crafted
These chains weren’t attached like your head on the mattress
(It’s not like we were inactive)
And the simple fact is that I’m more than attracted
I’m saying you’ve hacked in - no games
I’m distracted
(Still alive - but I’m half dead)
I’m frozen - your laughing (let's go)
Did you write it off as a joke?
Guess it was a helluva waste of my time in my prime with you simple folk
I’m takin the hits - still standing alone
While my patience unloads
And the drama unfolds from the blow of the no-shows
Can you believe it?
Sittin’ in my room with a fever
Down time sounds fine
I’ll still be thinkin’ of reasons to bleed ink
To plant seeds - I have needs
But I’m freezin’ from you leavin’
And you bring the heat in

CHORUS
...And I’m feelin' cold
Turned up the heat and it shows
So cold (so cold) - so cold
Feeding lies 'til I’m full
So cold
Ye turned up the heat and it shows
So cold - so cold
Feeding lies 'til I’m full
Can you tell me how did you know?

VERSE 2
It's hard not to remember the cool crisp breeze from last December
A fool like me made a poor defender
But she's a pretender - the best of her gender
Run away with your tender
Forget the love notes that you sent her
Second best is never better than first
Standing in line - I was ready to burst
Dying of thirst
There's only a human under this shirt
A warm-blooded creature proving its worth
So how can you be so sure (so sure)
I’ll tell you somethin’ – somethin’ only once
And it’ll save your selfish lovin’ and leave you with someone (someone)
You'll always be too much
But too much could never be enough
It's better than nothin’ - my arms still crossed and rubbin’
To open up - to let the sun sink in
Would feel so good – I’ll be free
But I’ll never win

CHORUS
So cold (so cold)
Turned up the heat and it shows
(So cold) so cold
Feeding lies ‘til I’m full
youve got me feelin so cold
Turned up the heat and it shows
So cold - so cold
Feeding lies ‘til I’m full
Can you tell me how did you know?

What's Missing

Written By: Maverick Judson

What’s missing
The hearts don’t seem to know
They’re always unhappy yeah hello
Out of control and raging to the point I don’t know
It hurts to spread the news
Switch the track
You’d sooner have me right back home
I’m oblivious to the worthless touch
Even cheap talk can be too much (it can be too much)
I love what you do to me
To me
Don’t stretch the truth
Those hands could be put to better use
What’s missing? (what’s missing)
What’s missing?
Don’t miss me while I’m gone
Don’t miss me
Don’t miss me while I’m (while I’m) gone
No no
Don’t miss me while I’m (while I’m) gone
Just don’t miss me
While I’m gone
While I’m gone
