Biography

As genres and bands go, MAXFIELD are in a class of their own. Their unique sound of Electro/Alternative/Rock drawing comparisons to Lamb, Portishead, Tina Turner, Red Hot Chilli's, are flattering, yet still do no justice to the dynamic, progressive Electro Rock sound that MAXFIELD have mastered.

Valerie's haunting melodic and at times, razor-sharp snarling voice, her twisted/touching lyrical style, powered against eccentric funky synths, taut guitar licks and eyebrow-raising squelching bass lines, togethered with their energetic, exuberant, sophisticated yet chaotic performances, welcomes you to the future sounds of MAXFIELD.

As one reviewer said: "This band has a touch of Nirvanaesque going on, sprinkled with Lenny Kravitz meet Red Hot Chilli Peppers and oozing Asian Dub Foundation, but with female attitude, IT ROCKS" ****

MAXFIELD formed in 2004, when singer songwriter Valerie Maxfield, decided that she had finally served her apprenticeship working for other bands (i.e GROOVE ARMADA & FREESTYLERS to name a few) and that it was time to step up to the plate and finally write her own album and show who she was. Teaming up with various producers, especially Julian Chown, an accomplished producer/composer/arranger versatile musician, they laid the foundations, with various guest musicians making an appearance to solidify Valerie's dream.

But just as the buzz of what was to come from Valerie, she suffer a near fatal illness, putting the whole project on hold. Given 24 hours to live, No one thought she'd pull thru, as her illness was such that only 1 in 10 survived, but guess what she did and after 9 months of hospitalisation and a further 6 months of rehabilitation to speak, to walk and sing again, Valerie found the strength against doctors orders to fullfil her dream, formed the band bringing Adam Mackie - guitars, Clive Jenner - drums, Tom Crofts - Bass, and MAXFIELD was born.

Since Debuting April 06, MAXFIELD have been captivating audiences with their combustible energetic exuberance and sheer knack of writing their brilliant brand of Electro/Rock, gathering more and more fans along the way, as they play the odd gig and shine the odd bit of light into the hearts of those that come to see them perform.

It has been a non-stop rollercoaster ride for MAXFIELD. Tours of Italy and Prague, have brought great reviews and new fans to the fore. Various radio appearances, and radio success with the single 'Stucklike' - 2007, sharing the stage with The Magic Numbers, Jackson Scott, Natalie Imbruglia, Piney Girs, Lucie Silvas, Soho Dolls, Lefthand, Tim Arnold and Air Traffic, to name a few, airplay from BBC Radio 6, BBC Cambridge, Pulserated, Ison and ZEN Fm Australia, their last minute, wildly sought-after slot at the 2006 In The City showcase, and an appearance on Channel 4's Road To V 2007, MAXFIELD are exploding onto the British music scene with off-the-wall charisma, ruthless ambition and killer tunes.

Their hard work have not gone unnoticed, with labels via for their signature, they've finally made the jump and put pen to paper and signed an exclusive album/publishing deal.

MAXFIELD are currently putting the finishing touches to their eagerly awaited debut album which is due to crash land in your stereo mid-2008.
