"Review MAXFIELD - Kings Head Live @ Zulus' 16th march 2007"

Oh my God ... I came to your gig to see you live because I met you and thought you were a really lovely person - I turned up a friend and left a huge huge fan!!!

You blew my mind tonight - you were absolutely fantastic, the songs were awsome and you were superb - your on-stage energy is phenomenal.

In my line of work I get to see a lot of gigs and I have been lucky enough to see pretty much every band out there live (I've become fairly hard to impress) ... but you left most of them standing.

I am thinking that it should be law that everyone in the country sees you live at least once because you truely are an inspiration and your gig left me feeling fantastic.

What can we do to make everyone experience the Maxfield thing?!!

I am so honoured to know you and am looking forward to watching your soar! You are one of the loveliest and most talented people I have ever met!

If anyone is reading this who hasn't been to a Maxfield gig - get to one - it was truely an amazing thing to be part of!

Big love and huge respect,
- Justin Tayger of IDA Films

"MAXFIELD live @ The Borderline with The Guillemots 28th Feb 2007"

The Guillemots took to the stage at 7pm on
28th February 2007 at The Borderline,
to a packed house . Recorded by Capital radio.

Instead of being the headline act, they swopped
places with MAXFIELD, as they had to head out to
another gig, which was an absolute honour for
MAXFIELD.

The Guillemots were impeccable and gave an
Absolutely awesome performance and great
showmanship by all in the band.

Once the Guillemots had finished and the stage
was cleared, the venue re-opened for the A & R
Showcase to take place and with support from
Ejector Seat, Indigo Joe and Slashed Seat Affair,
MAXFIELD did what they do best, continued where
the Guillemots left off and rocked the house,
to end all shows. AND what a show.!!!!!!!

"Maxfield were utterly wonderful ...

Not alone in having been taken by their performance
that night.

Am sure that offers of record deals and random
physical encounters will flood in.

How cool, you stars" - Dean @ Black Raven Music

"MAXFIELD Reviewed Live on 7th Dec 2006 at 12 Bar Club Soho"

From the first mind-bending chord of "Stucklike", Maxfield own the room. They're more than just accomplished musicians and this is more than just funk, though that is the template for their sound. The groovy stuff is mixed with big riffs and trippy effects, while Valerie commands this little space in style, rapping with gusto and singing wonderfully. Live, their songs move your ass, fill up your head and bring a smile to your chops, and you can't ask for more than that, now can you?'

Been a while getting to this review, what with one thing and another, but better late than never eh? I think I was supposed to have reviewed this ages ago but... Maxfield are a four peice rock band from London comprising of singer/songwriter Valerie Maxfield, Julian Chown, Marky Mark (not THE Marky Mark, surely?) and Clive Jenner. Judging by the comments on the webpage, they are a live band so maybe I should get my aging, saggy butt out of the house for the first time in a century and take in a 'gig'. But wait, shouldn't we first take a look at a sample?

MmmmmmmmOK....yer tis...

The first thing you'll notice about this track is that it's finished to a high gloss. The production and mix on this track are absolutely spot on, showing a very high degree of professionalism. Those same sentiments can be equally as convincingly applied to the music, lyrics and vocals so all in all, if you were looking for something 'commercial' this would fill that spot perfectly. Y'all know me by now and know that my harshest judgements are about poor production standards, so obviously Maxfield know a thing or two about how to do it. I should fekkin coco. If I didn't love Stucklike for all those qualities, then I for damn sure would have loved it because it's a cracking song with an oh so slightly wacky air that can leave you breathless.

As if all of that were not enough, the crowning glory is the voice of Valerie Maxfield, smoky, commanding and with its own sense of rhythm (as a classic example, get a listen to the little ragga section somewhere in the middle of the track. It's probably just a little too off-the-wall for real commercial potential but the fault for that lies in the taste rather than anything the band are doing wrong. In fact, it's that out-of-kilter feel that sticks in your mind as much as the track itself. I'm always on the lookout for artists who twist things around to look at them another way and Maxfield have just become a very welcome addition to my hard drive.

Original. Different. Wonderful.

"Mixposure review of gig at Watershed"

Yesterday...Live...The Watershed in Wimbledon, London(U.K.).....27th July 06 ..............MAXFIELD

Website: http://www.clashuk.com/cometomaxfield/

What words can one discribe an amazing vortex of spinning vibrant tunes with soulful thrills and funky riffs, coupled with an energetic female vocl that can only be decribed as a diva as good as the likes of Aretha Franklin and Gloria Gaynor...to name but a few.

Myself, Dieter and Lynda went to London to experience a talent to the likes that we havn`t seen in many years of gigging.

The Watershed...(Hard to find)...is a small downstairs cellar basement night club that proberbly hosts many bands...signed and unsigned...over the years and the idea of every drink £2:00 before 11:00pm was pretty cool...ohh the hangover i had in the morning

Maxfield came on to perform their first single called STRUCKLIKE from their new up and coming EP Titled SO IS WHAT!
The performance right from the start made my hairs stand on end and got my feet-a-shuffling and my head-a-nodding.
Considering that STRUCKLIKE is my favourite MAXFIELD track...i was hooked
From then on..song after song after song was just so amazing and dazzling and the whole set just blew me away.
Other tracks played..including STRANGER and COME ON were ripping a new beat for me to dance too and i just could not stand still for 5 mins.

Respect to Valerie and the gang for a supurb performance from which i really do hope that better things insure for the future...in fact...i almost know so

Valerie...you own that stage....keep it Rock Rock Rock

Bio

The divine Ms.Valerie Maxfield or Valerie M, as known by the club/garage scene, has been featured on records that have been sold millions of copies worldwide. Now she is ready to come to the forefront in her own right, with her own fusion of music.

Valerie began her career the right way…with a hit. It was with the Candy Girls (Positiva Rec.) and she scored a double whammy this time with the chart toppers hits ‘I Want Candy’, and ‘Fe Fi Fo Fum’. Enjoying huge success around the world.

From then she went on to be the vocal and front for super dance group, The Lisa Marie Experience, with their worldwide smash hit ‘Keep On Jumping’ (FFFR), which was released in just about every country in the world. And fronted another smash hit Jazzy M’s ‘Jazzing The Way You Know’.

In between, Ms M embarked on carving out a career in writing and wrote the underground hit ‘Tingles’, which the DREEM TEEM (Radio 1), remixed and it went to #6 on the charts. Becoming the D.T’s biggest hit to date, with The Artful Dodger also providing an outstanding mix of this track.

Far from finished yet, Valerie went on to vocal/co-write and front the UK’s first garage act, DA CLICK (FFFR/LONDON Rec.) who had two massive singles, ‘We are Da Click’ and the classic ‘GOOD RHYMES’ Both tracks hitting top 10 and 20 in the National Charts. They supported the likes of Another Level and appeared all over the UK , Eutope and the Smash Hit Tours.

HEEEYYY DON’T TOUCH THAT DIAL YET! The millennium saw her take her first step in co-producing and writing. Firstly, with Ed Case (Gorillaz remixer) with the release ‘When I’m With You’ (Go Beat Rec.) and last but not least went on to vocal and co-write with the Multi Platinum selling ‘Freestylers’ (Fresh Rec.), touring extensively with the latter.

Valerie has now become an accomplished singer/songwriter and has written with top writers, i.e Alan Glass (Mis-teeq, Liberty X, No Angels) and Bruce Elliott-Smith (Oakenfeld, Spiller, Kylie), The Funk Brothers with the remake ‘Groove Is In The Heart’ and ‘Mosquito’s ‘Hungry For Your Love’, released winter 2003 and many more.

2004 saw further solo and featured releases, including ‘Show Me Love and ‘Don’t Be Alone’ the former being signed to Born2Dance Records UK. A perfect funky-house dance track for the clubs, so much so that the track is featured on the very trendy ‘Queer As Folks’ television show in the US and compilation and ‘Don’t Be Alone’ produced by J.D.S., championed by Radio 1’s Judge Jules, is signed to ground breaking Break Beat label TCR Records, showing Valerie’s versatility.

Valerie joined up with the super dance group Groove Armada becoming their front person, touring the UK, Europe, Australia, Asia, Canada and the USA and finally featuring on their platinum selling Best of Album and DVD.
FINALLY

Ms M is a perfectionist. Her style is so versatile from the breakbeat drops of Groove Armada or the Freestylers, the Diva on ‘Show Me Love’, to the sultry soulful sound of Tingles. These giving her the makings to finally, step up, after serving her apprenticeship, and touring the world, to come into her own and …WAIT FOR IT, has found her own style and has finally written and co-produced her own solo debut album with her newly formed band ‘MAXFIELD’, for whom she is now known as.

NOW IS THE TIME
