Bio

The National Defense Fund is an independent music project conceived, written, performed, engineered, and produced by solo artist Max Forstater out of Atlanta, GA.

Max has been writing and performing music for 15 years as a vocalist, bassist, and guitarist. The National Defense Fund is his first solo project after a long career touring with groups and performing artists.

Concerned by the sad and uninspired state of mainstream rock and roll in the USA, The National Defense Fund was created as a haven for independent, meaningful songwriting, sponsored by nothing and brought to you by the artist.

With a love of rock music throughout the ages and a passion for late 70s and early 80s New Wave, Rock, and Pop, the The National Defense Fund draws influence from such great acts as Elvis Costello and The Attractions, The Jam, Joe Jackson, The Pretenders and The Clash and fuses them into a polished set with addictive hooks, pop sensibilities, and an observational storytelling style.

History

During almost a decade-long career in Atlanta Max, has performed in concert with such southern legends as Kevn Kinney, Drivn' 'n' Cryin', Derek Trucks (with/The Zambiland Orchestra), and guitar great Barry Richman; and alongside such national acts such as Merl Saunders and Frog Wings (featuring members of the Allman Brothers Band).

After years of sharpening his engineering and production skills out of his studio, affectionately known as "The Commissioners Office", Max is putting the shine on his first full-length, independent recording entitled, Lifecycle, due for release in 2008.
