The band Mayan Fox centres on a husband and wife duo Nate & Maria who met when bartering each other for their respective expertise. Maria was a vocal instructor and taught Nate to sing. Nate was a Personal Trainer and helped Maria to lose 20 kilos!
The music of Mayan Fox consists of strong, hooking melodies, rich harmonies, playful lyricism and bouncing grooves.
As a duo, Nate and Maria have released a successful album under their former band name Skuna Quay and haved toured internationally and nationally.
Nate & Maria have recently joined with guitarists Maui Whaanga and Scott Sands and drummer Jono Davis, to raise the bar on their next album. With fresh ideas and additions to line-up comes the new name.
The name Mayan Fox is a nod towards Marias Central American heritage.
