Pour notre quatrieme festival « Vos Voisins ont du Talent », nous avons accueilli, comme le veux notre regle du jeu, le 1er concert public d’Aldebaran.
Pas facile, l’exercice ! un public dejà sous le charme des groupes precedents, de style tres differents, un podium qu’il a fallu remanier pour le groupe, de façon un peu improvisee, une balance reduite à …presque rien ! On aurait souhaiter mieux pour leur faciliter ce 1er concert .
Mais au premier son de guitare, tout se met en place ! Un groupe homogène qui nous livre un rock SF ( SF ?), solide, carre, « loudy & noisy » … . Grosse energie, entrecoupee de morceaux plus lents, balades tendance west coast. Pour un ancien comme moi, on trouve quelques accents de Grateful Dead en concert, ou des Doors. Mais en fait, on trouve surtout de l’Aldebaran !
Compositions communes du groupe, avec une grosse base basse/batterie ( copains comme larrons en foire pour marquer la mesure, ceux-la !) des paroles écrites par Morvan Salez, impressions de voyages, souvenirs de rencontres, expressions aussi de quelques coups de gueules, tout ça retient l’interet. En anglais, souvent, mais tout ça passe bien et accroche. Le tout lia par des improvisations d’un lead guitare a son affaire, et le clavier de Morvan . Le public en redemande, et voudrait que ça dure encore !

Premier vœu, que les vents solaires portent Aldebaran haut dans la galaxie du rock ( SF ?) !
Deuxieme vœu, que leur vaisseau refasse escale a Ablon tres vite !

L'Orque Epaulard", single appeared on two US compilations : "Los Angeles critical mass : The emerging electronic underground" (Mindspore, K2K) and "Kspace independant artists, compil. vol.1".

Morvan Salez has written and interpreted songs since teen age, been the leader of several bands in Paris, while studying physics in parallel to pursue a scientific career. In Los Angeles -working then at NASA- he puts together the band ALDEBARAN with musicians Tom Freeman (drums), Paul Davis (guitar), Jef Hogan (bass) and others. They record the album " Ocre et Rouge" (Smashing Productions, 1996), which gains local recognition and is aired by many college radios (e.g. KCRW in California or Ferarock radios network in France). In 1997, the single "L'Orque Epaulard" appears on two US nationwide commercialized compilations (Mindspore, Kspace recordings).
In France, although busy with his second passion astrophysics, Morvan has been composing and writing a lot. In 2004 he meets bassist Mahtia Zanotelli, guitarist Christophe Macau and drummer David Sarouille. Together they play a few gigs and record several demos. Dominique Bertram, internationally renowned bass player (MAGMA, Veronique Sanson), loves the music, and offers to coach artistically the band, which takes the name "MAYA REELS". In 2008, Christophe and Morvan record 6 new tracks with Dominique Bertram on bass and Loic Pontieux on drums.
